Thank you to everyone who entered the spell of ARRAROA and gathered with us for this PVSSY AKELARRE x WEEEIRDOS night at TILLA TEC. 🖤 To all who came to dance, witness, wander, and celebrate the strange: thank you for making this akelarre so special. ARRAROA was a place for what exists outside the expected: music, performance, ritual and beautiful weirdness shared in community. Huge love to the artists who brought the night to life: IRA DELTA, Lolsnake, Vinvar, Jasmín, Julia Maria b2b María Cue, Nox Aerem, Pink Zombie, Retla Gem x Soma, and Vision Violenta. And special thanks to Leila, Amsterdam Fundraiser and the lovely team of volunteers for preparing such a tasty community dinner before the dance. Also to Ayeda for sharing her music over dinner. Thanks for helping open the night with care, warmth and collective spirit while raising funds for women and trans rights. Pvssy Akelarre is an Amsterdam-based art collective and event series centred on the FLINTA community, founded by artist and DJ Maria Cue. The project brings together electronic music, performance and art markets, reclaiming the historical notion of the akelarre (the witches’ sabbath) as a symbol of feminist resistance and sisterhood. The past event took place at Garage Noord and featured music by Carre, Darwin, Delfuturo, Idilay b2b Maria Cue, and Valody, which guided the ears from dubstep, to techno, drum & bass, and beyond. It also included an art market, offering creatives the opportunity to network and share their creations. In the midst of the club, Antarctica, Luna and Retlagem came together to showcase a beautiful collaborative shibari performance. Live visuals were projected by Tea Ferrari, Meggie van Zwieten, and Vision Violenta. The atmosphere was sweet, playful and welcoming. In the conversation, Maria Cue traces the project from its roots to its horizons: the Basque meaning of the akelarre and the reclaiming of the witch as a figure of resistance; the FLINTA+ gap she set out to address and how her reading of it has shifted; her curatorial method, from shaping each night around a distinct sonic identity to reserving open decks for emerging artists; the interdisciplinary world-building she pursues alongside art director Meggie van Zwieten and many more. » Read the full feature on our website.
