POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

PRACTICE/SNIPPET: In this scene remake of the hit show, This Is Us, with characters Randal and Deja, we explore more on-camera growth. We learned a lot as a team. It was great going through the process to strengthen filmmaking skills as well as get more experience acting on screen. This has taught us about how we’d like to develop sound recording/design better for the future, help create more roles for actors to both have arcs and rich backstory, and ultimately how to create a set environment that will bring out the best in a story and give everyone the space to truly be free to create in their lane. Excited to apply these new lessons to future work. Thankful for every opportunity to collaborate and grow.

🗣️: Yes, this short pays homage to the reboot of @adifferentworldnetflix for a number of reasons. This is not a bandwagon moment because I already knew the show would be successful. This is a step for maintaining artist agency by remembering to be inspired by the greats @feliciapride @therealdebbieallen etc., BUT doing something about it. Yes, I was one of the actors who actually received several auditions for season one (which was a huge win considering how much I pushed myself to even get in the room — another story for another day). And it taught me: what I truly want is to know the feeling of creating these worlds, being a leading woman, and telling the stories I crave. So I’ve been doing just that…and guess what! It’s exactly what these amazing creatives have been doing for years. Although my first goal (and of course how cool it would be to still happen) centered on booking a role, it later brought me into a deeper research process of the actual decision makers, and helped me realize I want to be more like them. So here’s a step and I am so incredibly proud and thankful for these moments. They’re healing and make me even hungrier. I hope my time of being inspired now inspires you.

Much love and gratitude to my amazing film bros who are so incredibly talented, wise, and faithful to the meaning of staying true to the ART and always being their authentic selves.
