@oldmanmoon made a heroic effort between benchmarks and came up into the backcountry for a quiver of shots on the new CQB… Thanks mate for coming up and congratulations!

The trees can stay green. We don’t mind. 🌲💚

Because when they do, Mother Nature just gets creative somewhere else.

Maybe the color starts creeping across the ground. Maybe the shrubs light up in reds and golds. Maybe the peaks catch that warm autumn glow while everything below is still hanging onto summer.

Fall color in the High Sierra doesn’t always mean a wall of golden aspens. Sometimes it’s the whole landscape quietly changing around the edges. And those are some of the #fallcolor scenes we love the most. 🍂🏔️✨

What catches your eye first in fall — the trees, the ground, or the mountains?

We did this trail while it was completely covered in snow almost a year ago... This time we saw it in its full autumnal glory - boy did it not disappoint! We parked in the hotel parking since we were staying in the campground and headed through some gorgeous aspen trees. The actual overlook also provides great views of the valley with sprinkles of gold and yellow from the aspens. This was a fun hike in the snow but this was by far the best time to come. The AllTrails fall foliage overlay was actually pretty accurate when it came to timing our visit, so that was a nice surprise. Either way, fall or winter is a great time to hit this trail.

Some places are too beautiful to be explained, too wild to be tamed, and too sacred to be anything but left alone.
⠀
Deep in the Sierra, where ancient forests cast their shadows across still waters, the world feels untouched by time. No roads in sight. No crowds. No chaos. Just wilderness existing exactly as it was meant to.
⠀
And perhaps that’s the most extraordinary thing of all…realizing that the world doesn’t need us to make it beautiful. It already is.
⠀
We just have to leave enough of it alone to remember. 🌲

Fall colors are in full swing in the Sierra! Construction is done for the season on Highway 4, so now is the perfect time to take a drive over the pass, hit the mountain biking trails, or venture out on a hike. #bearvalley #sierranevada #fall #fallscenery
