Route 66: TexMex / Two weeks ago, I drove the Texas portion of Route 66, crossed into New Mexico, but then continued South in Santa Rosa towards Roswell for some National Parks. I came back up to Albuquerque for a few days, then veered off for NPs in Colorado, to come back down to Santa Fe this past weekend. This morning, I completed the New Mexico portion of Route 66. 🌶️🤠 Support small businesses.

Have you ever come across petroglyphs and wondered what message the ancient people were trying to convey?
Is it a specific message to someone? Is it a portrayal of a major event or maybe an individual conquest? Is it a journal entry into the full story of the people?
(Or is it like today’s carvers: “Gary was here” or “Tony+Mary 4 ever”🫣)

I have often wished for a Google Translate for petroglyphs. I’m so curious about these ancient people and what they deemed worthy to carve into stone.
That’s why this tour of the Badger Springs Archeological area in @zunipueblo was so fascinating to me. You guys— the stories Kenny told me had me like 😱🤯🫠
(The History Channel has been to see him a few times to feature some of the carvings and their explanations on their network.)
I went on this tour in partnership with @VisitGallup and @NewMexicoTRUE but I loved it so much, I would go again in a heartbeat! Zuni Pueblo is just a short drive south of Gallup, New Mexico and right now the weather is perfect for an outdoor adventure🌤️

The Kinaaldà was a SUCCESS 🌾 It felt so good to be home surrounded by family, love, good medicine, good intention, to be able to work the kitchen, serve our guests, wake up at 3am, pray, cook, butcher, wash non-stop dishes, then repeat. The teachings and spiritual discipline is something we all needed.

So many memories from my Kinaaldà came back. With the respect of my brothers family - no photo were taken during our ceremony. But I can say IT WAS BEAUTIFUL ✨️🌾✨️

My brother's daughter is truly blessed. She did amazing. She was strong the entire time. Never complained walked into womanhood LIKE A WARRIOR. I'm so proud of my little brother for setting the kinaaldà tone in our family. The template. It's hard work - it takes months, sometimes for some years of preparation. But at the end IT'S ALL WORTH IT! We woke up this morning tired, but blessed. Renewed in faith. Ready for Fall Season 🍂IT was bittersweet 😪 but overall, this trip was completely blessingssss all around. My girls are now in LINE AND WE HAVE TO PREPARE 🫪🤯🙊🙉🙈

City life and it's demands for consistent grind will test your spirit. Remember to walk in beauty. Walk in this fall season with love, compassion and forgiveness.
