There’s something about those dusty hills, rugged rocks and empty stretches of coastline that reminds me of an old spaghetti western. You almost expect a lone cowboy to appear around the corner. But then the landscape opens onto that incredible turquoise water, and suddenly everything changes. I couldn’t help smiling at the contrast. Who would have thought the Wild Wild East could look like this?❤️

Some places become part of who you are. Karpathos has always been part of me. 🤍

What started as a simple way to share the island I call home has become something so much more meaningful.

C'è un'isola che non ti aspetti.

Karpathos. L'isola del vento.
Nel Dodecaneso.

Un'isola di bellezza e contrasti che ti conquista l'anima e il cuore.

A sud è brulla,arida,quasi lunare.
Si prosegue....
Roccia battuta dal vento,mare selvaggio che si infrange.
Al centro e al nord il paesaggio cambia e si trovano bellissime pinete che profumano di resina,verde intenso che si tuffa nel blu..

Montagne impervie
Mare che ti toglie il fiato
Sentieri che ti portano lontano..

Villaggi dove il tempo si è fermato
Tramonti che non dimentichi.

Karpathos è ancora autentica.
Vera.
Selvaggia.

E le ho fatto una promessa....che tornerò.

Menetes is one of the oldest and most picturesque villages of Karpathos 🇬🇷 located about 8 km from Pigadia.

The village is built on a steep mountainside and is surrounded by olive groves and rocky hills. Its most important landmark is the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, built in the 19th century, which houses an impressive collection of religious icons. Menetes is also known for its traditional houses, narrow stone-paved streets, and the annual celebration of the Assumption on August 15, when music, dancing, and local food.

Folklore is very much alive here. The houses feel like little museums, and the locals will gladly share stories and legends passed down through generations 🔶

🎨✨ Cerchi un'attività creativa da vivere in famiglia o con gli amici?

A Karpathos si può vivere un'esperienza divertente e coinvolgente adatta anche ai bambini🧩💛

Per qualche ora ci si prende una pausa dalle incantevoli spiagge dell'isola per dirigersi nell'entroterra, in Località PINI.

Qui si può partecipare ad un laboratorio di mosaico in un ambiente super rilassante e bucolico, il corso si svolge infatti all'interno di un giardino a ridosso di un piccolo vigneto🍃

Il corso, della durata di 3 ore, coinvolge tutta la famiglia, si svolge in piccoli gruppi e la proprietaria è una persona estremamente gentile e disponibile❤️

Questa attività riesce a conquistare tutti. 🇬🇷✨

Tra le esperienze più belle vissute a Karpathos c'è sicuramente questo corso di cucina tradizionale greca che ci ha permesso di entrare in contatto con la cultura locale, imparare ricette e trascorrere del tempo di qualità insieme.♥️

Le cose che abbiamo apprezzato di più?
Il fatto che anche i bambini possono partecipare attivamente e mettere (letteralmente) le mani in pasta; il fatto che non ci sia nulla di strutturato
o artefatto, a partire dalla location, una casa privata; e il fatto che si ha la possibilità di conoscere, attraverso i racconti dei locali, storie e realtà di questa splendida isola. ✨️

Si inizia preparando i makarounes, gnocchetti di acqua e farina conditi con cipolla caramellata e formaggio di capra, per poi proseguire con lo stufato di capra e verdure bollite, frutta, vino della casa e l'immancabile caffè greco.
L'atmosfera è amichevole e conviviale. 🥗

Hemma igen efter 2 veckor på Karpathos ☀️🇬🇷
Vi har varit med om värmebölja, nästan storm, moppe som kraschar i uppförsbacke, massor salta bad, god mat och några nya upplevelser trots allt detta var vår 9:e gång på ön.
