I mean.. tell me I’m wrong 😂

All I can say is get yourself a phenomenal photographer who’s good with beach shots. 📸📸📸
Hair in an up-style - NOT out and curled
Makeup - NO lip gloss
Music - You’ll need some really good speakers! 😂

Newcastle Beach on wheels 🌊♿ Here is how to get there:

🚗 BY CAR

There are three spots to choose from:
📍 Behind the skate park: one accessible space with an accessible aisle
📍 In front of Newcastle Ocean Baths: six accessible spaces linking directly to the promenade
📍 On Shortland Esplanade: one last accessible space
Permit holders park free in ticketed spaces.

🚋 BY TRAM

The best part? Public transport is only a 5 minute roll away. Catch the light rail to Newcastle Beach, the last stop (about 12 minutes from Newcastle Interchange). Flat paths take you through Pacific Park and the tunnel, connecting straight to The Kiosk, where you can stop for a pee. Remember to bring your MLAK key! 🔑

🌊 ONCE YOU ARE THERE

After a little promenade, take a dip at the accessible Newcastle Ocean Baths (there is a ramp into the main pool), watch the skaters at the Hunter’s first wheelchair accessible WCMX bowl, or stop for a drink or some food at any of the following:

When the skies get angry over Newcastle. ⛈️

Headed up to the ANZAC Memorial Walk today, Sony camera and tripod in hand, hoping to catch some of the wild storms rolling across NSW and Queensland.

As luck would have it, Newcastle seemed to dodge most of the action. A few impressive bolts flashed out at sea, but the lightning gods clearly had other plans.

The cloud gods, however? They absolutely delivered.

Watching this enormous, angry sky roll over the coastline was something else. That strange feeling in the air when a storm is approaching, the wind changing, the light fading, and everything suddenly feeling a little more dramatic.

And then, of course, came the rain.

One minute you’re admiring the view, the next you’re discovering just how quickly you can dismantle a Sony camera, remove an ND filter, collapse a tripod and question every life decision that led you to standing on an exposed headland. 😂

Didn’t quite get the lightning shots I’d hoped for, but I did manage to stitch together five iPhone photos to capture this incredible scene before the heavens opened.

Lightning or not, I’ll never get tired of this coastline. Looking out over Newcastle from up here, with the ocean stretching into the distance and the city beneath a sky like this…

There’s no place quite like home.

A cheeky, hyperlocal take on grief is coming to the Playhouse! ✨🥲

Produced by Cats in the Cupboard Productions. Presented by UpStage at the Playbouse @civictheatrenewcastle She, Her and I is the final stop on our UpStage 2026 journey.

Described by writer Mikaela Corrigan as Kath and Kim but there’s an extra sister and Kath’s dying. It’s relatable, chaotic and not to be missed 💜

She, Her and I is a tense, touching and humorous exploration of female family dynamics and the healing power of the ocean. A local story that captures the messy beauty of love, loss and letting go.

I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek of rehearsals and I can’t wait to see the full show!

You can find out more by heading to @civictheatrenewcastle ❤️‍🔥

Everyone talks about Sydney's beaches. But what about this stretch of coastline just 2hrs north? 🌊

Newcastle has a bit of everything. Beautiful beaches dead smack in the middle of the city, incredible coastal walks, historic architecture, great cafés and a waterfront that feels refreshingly different and much more low key than Sydney.

But what surprised us most was how much there is to explore beyond the city itself. Just a short drive south, the coastline becomes a mix of dramatic cliffs, hidden caves, quiet beaches and little coastal towns that feel a world away.

What other spots along the NSW coast should be on our list now that we're back in Aus? 👀

📍 Newcastle → Caves Beach → Catherine Hill Bay, NSW 🇦🇺
