Gothic Readings Join Theatre du Mississippi and the Friends of the Winona Public Library for an evening of spine‑tingling stories during Gothic Readings, held on Saturday, October 24th at 7:00 PM in the Winona Public Library. Experience a curated selection of eerie, atmospheric literature brought to life by local performers. Whether you love classic gothic tales or simply enjoy a good shiver, this event promises an unforgettable night. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Purchase tickets at https://winona.lib.mn.us/event/gothic-readings/ Doors will open at 6pm with a historic tour of the library being offered at 6:15pm and ending at 6:45pm. Guests will enjoy a light beverage and snack available before the program begins and during intermission.

It’s Spooky Lake Month, which means it’s the perfect time to go see my artwork at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum in Winona, Minnesota! Spooky Lake Month taps into our shared fear of the unknown and the unsettling uncertainty of what lies beneath the surface. But neither my videos nor my artwork are about conspiracy theories or the supernatural. Instead, they explore the fascinating and sometimes terrifying realities of our natural world through science, history, environmental disasters, and the strange happenings surrounding bodies of water. And now, you can explore those stories beyond your phone screen! “Geo Rutherford: Spooky Waters of the World” brings together original illustrations from my books Spooky Lakes and Spooky Rivers, along with some of my mixed-media artwork inspired by the Great Lakes, and curious objects collected along the shores of Lake Michigan. Just like my videos, the exhibition explores toxic waters, roaring rapids, boiling rivers, bizarre creatures, and secrets hidden beneath the surface. Only this time, you can get up close and personal with the artwork that brings these stories to life! Because, as you know, the real stories are even stranger than fiction. ✨ “Geo Rutherford: Spooky Waters of the World” is on view at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum through February 14, 2027!

This weekend at The ARC, we have Minneapolis-based theatre company Simple Machines performing their original comedy Say When... Say When... tells the story of Evander Berry Wall who was born into privilege with nothing but opportunity on his horizon. After circumstance disrupted a steady path, he was left with a fruitful business that didn’t provide him with a purpose. Through striking costumes, projections, and clown, we join Evander, his wife, Salome, and his beloved Chow Chow dogs as they journey through the dawning of a new century and across the globe and Evander’s desire to become the best dressed man in the world. When is it enough? We have an evening performance on Saturday, October 24th at 7pm, and a matinee on Sunday, October 25th at 3pm. We want to extend a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out last night to the meat raffle fundraiser for the Advocacy Center. It was a lovely evening and a great time. These events run with the help of so many hands-from the meat sponsors to the volunteers, our staff, promoters (shout out @visitwinona ), the bakers and the artists…we couldn’t do it without you.
