When support is there when it is needed most.

These have been difficult days for the Zazymia community in the Kyiv region.

On August 30, 2026, in Pohreby village, Zazymia community, a Russian Shahed drone struck the Dubrovka café.
The following day, two Russian drones struck a food storage facility, causing a large-scale fire.
Eight people were injured, but thankfully, no fatalities were reported.

During the emergency response, a fire truck provided through Ukraine Aid International for our Sister City of Zazymia helped fight the fire.

This is what community resilience looks like in practice: identifying a real need, providing the right resource, and seeing it protect the community when it matters most.

We are grateful to Zazymia’s emergency services – and to everyone who has supported UAI, continues to stand with us, and plans to do so in the future.
Your support makes this work possible and helps us provide Ukrainian communities with the resources they urgently need.

These are difficult days for our community once again.
On August 30, a Russian Shahed drone struck the Dubrovka café.
On August 31, two enemy drones struck a food storage facility. The attack caused a large-scale fire, and rescuers and all necessary emergency services were deployed to deal with its aftermath.
Eight people were injured in the attack on the warehouse. Fortunately, there were no fatalities. All those injured received the necessary medical assistance.
These attacks once again demonstrate how deliberately the enemy is trying to destroy everything our daily lives depend on. Russia is targeting our energy sector, critical and civilian infrastructure, businesses, and logistics. Facilities connected to the storage and supply of food are now also coming under attack.

A little summer update from Pound Ridge, Zazymia’s Sister City! 💙💛

On July 24, the community came together for an evening of live music, connection, and solidarity with Zazymia, Ukraine. The benefit event supported the effort to provide Zazymia with a critically needed fire truck – a powerful reminder that friendship between communities can grow into meaningful action. We are grateful to everyone who joined and stood with Ukraine!

On 24 May, the village of Pukhivka Kyiv region, was struck by a direct Russian ballistic missile.

That night, one local resident and his wife were at home. They spent hours listening to Shahed drones overhead as Ukrainian air defense forces worked to intercept them. Around 3:30 a.m.* they heard a missile roar just above the rooftops. About 15 minutes later, an explosion shook everything.

“The ceiling collapsed. Plaster fell everywhere. The windows shattered, and the doors were blown open. At first, we didn’t even realize what had happened.”

Moments later, a neighbor ran to their door shouting that the shed was on fire. Flames quickly spread to nearby buildings and reached the roof of a neighboring house.

Local firefighters from Pukhivka arrived first. Within minutes, additional fire crews from Brovary joined them. Together, they managed to stop the fire and save the house.

Just two days later, thanks to financial assistance from the regional administration, residents had already begun repairing their damaged roofs. The Ukrainian government’s “e-Recovery”program is helping families start rebuilding.

“We’ll find a way somehow,” the homeowner says. “The government will help. We’ll rebuild—and so will Ukraine.”

🇺🇦 Even after devastating attacks, Ukrainians continue to rebuild their homes, their communities, and their future.

The Aftermath of a Russian Missile Strike in Pukhivka, Kyiv Region

On 24 May, the village of Pukhivka was hit by a direct Russian ballistic missile strike.

The explosion left behind a massive crater and caused severe damage. Within a 100-meter radius, the blast wave tore off roofs, damaged walls, and shattered windows.

This is Myru Street, located about 200 meters from the impact site. Even here, the shockwave caused significant damage to nearby homes.

Firefighters from the Pukhivka Rural Fire Brigade were the first to respond. Just two days later, thanks to financial assistance from the regional administration, residents had already begun repairing their roofs.

Today, the village is rebuilding. Step by step, people are restoring their homes and their lives.
