$As the sun rises over the concrete metropolis of Dubai, I am compelled to reflect on the extraordinary journey our tribe has undertaken. From the darkest days behind the Iron Curtain to the lush jungles of the Congo, and from the shores of Europe to the far corners of the globe, our people have traversed a remarkable odyssey, embedded in survival and passion for life and family combined. Finally, we find ourselves returning to the very continent that has always held a profound connection to our heritage, Africa. To my father, whose hard earned lessons of life were mastered through years of war and prison, and to my mother, whose resilience and tenacity never ceased to amaze me, I only pray to have a fraction of their resilience and kindness. The sunrises and the people at Fungamukaba would have stolen my parents’ heart, they never missed a beat, a moment, a hug, or an opportunity to soak in the miracle of living. When I used to ask my father where he relentlessly found his energy, his answer was always consistently humorous but profound. “I will rest when I die”, and so he lived, embracing the good with both arms, and often embracing my mother just as much. To those who came before us, let their sacrifices and struggles not have been in vain. May I learn from their humility for all eternity to come. . . . . . #wildlifephotography #wildlife #nature #naturephotography #birds #photography #animals #birdphotography #bird #birdsofinstagram #naturelovers #photooftheday #animal #wild #canon #birdwatching #nikon #animalphotography #perfection #natgeo #birding #wildlifeplanet #wildlifephotographer #travel #of #best #captures #ig #canonphotography #lovely$

Whether Brahms symphonies depict the Rhine, the Danau or the home of the Lorelei, that beautiful elusive deadly Siren of the river, his music forever conveys the Spirit of the water. Whenever I feel the curves of the valley at Fungamukaba, and lose myself in the sounds of that sweet trickle, I dream of the genius of Brahms and his eternal Romani melodies. I raise my glass to his genius and his romantic side, hopefully with a decent Tokai wine at that….
