Jao Hoo Khoi Baw? (ຈ້າວ ຮູ້ ຂ້ອຍ ບໍ?) – Do you know who I am?

This isn’t just a photoshoot. It’s a tribute. A reflection. A piece of history.

When the first Lao, Cambodian, and Hmong refugee families arrived in America in the ‘80s, they held onto their culture while navigating a world that barely knew they existed. The media they consumed, the way they dressed, the struggles they carried—it all shaped the generations that came after.

I wanted to capture that feeling. To pay homage to my family, and every refugee who fought for a future here. I poured my heart into making this look and feel like the era they lived through—because their story deserves to be remembered.

Jao Hoo Khoi Baw? You might not have known before. But now you do.
