1) Men’s Hyrox Pro

DNF OR “You better finish what you started” 😅

And I just about fell into the latter camp with this one…

Yesterday I took on the pro division and it chewed me up and spat me back out eight times and then some 🫠

What a whirlwind of an experience,

And I want to share with you a hard hitting truth that goes beyond the highlight reel…

But this was genuinely the worst race of my life.

Hard in every sense and mentally and physically taken a battering.

But the thing is it wasn’t supposed to go this way.

I’d done the prep, excited and ready for it.

Since booking it I’d visualised it over and over again

Quietly confident of a sub 1 hr 20,

That finish line punching the air moment

The elation of hugging friends and family having achieved such a feat

Smashing burpees out for fun

Running the farmer carries with ease

The possibility of unbroken wall balls

Going toe to toe with the giants and rubbing shoulders with the elites

Even hiring a videographer to capture the best race of my life

And out of all things to cost me and blow the entire thing up were my f*cking trainers.

Went out on the first couple of runs well and kept my composure on the ski trainer.

Hit the sled and my shoes wouldn’t stay on…

Yep, how daft does that sound?

I knew my trainers weren’t great for Hyrox but I’d gotten by before.

And I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to push 200kg with no shoes.

But I’ll tell you it doesn’t happen 😂

And more so it will absolutely take your soul.

It totally f*cked my back up and more so robbed my of my resilience and confidence.

The things I build and teach for a living.

Talk about imposter syndrome hitting me square in the face…

From then on I’d lost the race.

The goal became to not stop and to just finish what I started.

I promise you now I’ll be back with for a second go without a doubt and a third and fourth and fifth if needs be

But first…

Buy some new f*cking shoes! 👟 🤣

🚀

I’ll take a further deep dive in the comments…
