🇲🇱 From the ancient trading cities of Timbuktu and Djenné to the music of the Sahara and the traditions of the Tuareg, Fulani, Songhai and Bambara peoples, Mali is home to one of the richest cultural legacies on Earth.

For centuries, this land sat at the heart of trans-Saharan trade routes, connecting West Africa with North Africa and the Middle East. Its scholars, artisans, musicians and storytellers helped shape a civilisation whose influence stretched far beyond its borders.

Today, Mali remains a place of extraordinary diversity, where colourful textiles, desert traditions, tea ceremonies, historic mud-brick architecture and world-renowned music continue to thrive.

These images offer a glimpse into a side of Mali that many people rarely get to see.

Pour l’occasion, on voulait mettre en lumière le magnifique travail de Nybé Ponzio, qui documente depuis plusieurs années les tenues portées pendant l’Aïd. 👘

Un projet intime capturé au cœur de la maison familiale de Ouolofobougou, à Bamako au Mali, entre traditions, transmission et identité culturelle. 🇲🇱

Du 29 mai au 4 juin, son exposition baptisée « Eïd Styles » sera visible sur les murs de @unionjeunesseinternationale à Paris. 🖼️
