“Jack of all Trades, Master of None; Still Always Better than a Master of One.”
There is a mythical essence to this saying. It purports a devaluation in the mastering one trade or skill. As myths go, there begs a question of ”what if??..” What if the one skill was The Pivot? On the journey of self discovery, there is no skill nor tool more essential or more powerful than the pivot. Whether constructing creatively or defending by dismantle; the ability to adjust and react hold the reins of success. To achieve the level or to obtain the skill are markers and milestones. Each creating a next step along the path. The path of discovery leading to expansion. The measurement of success being: How did you Grow?

Brutus “Mace” Moore III is no stranger to pivot. It has become a most useful skill on his creative journey for more than 30+ years. His inspiration sparked by cartoons, comics, and department store gift stations; Mace’s mastery of the pivot began early. Finding New York his home as a child and raised in the BX borough made transition and pivot not only necessary, but with time and talent, an Art. While Mace’s journey as a graffiti artist perpetuates the foundations of his creative journey, it is his skill as Pivot Master that has and continues to translate his love for artistic expression and experience into mediums of music, videography, and curation. The vibrant color pallets of his mural work and the dynamic engagement of his documentary style videos are but shavings of the multi-layer artist.
Brutus continues his relentless pursuit of intention and expansion each day as he navigates the calls and pivots of his journey. As a son and caregiver. As a friend. As a father. As an artist. #createeveryday #artswestchester #thiscreativelife @bm3rdizm #yonkersny #thebasementauction

There are two types of opportunities: those which present themselves to you; and those you create.

I find that I am often in the habit of creating opportunities. Not just for myself; but for my community.
The Basement: Conversations of Foundation live paint demo produced and sponsored by @akashacollective914 and @nancy_mendez_artist in partnership with @littlechurchstudio.yo during #yonkersartsweekend last month produced some amazing work by some incredible artists! If you missed them live, you can see them in the video. What’s better? The #PiECES are up for auction! Each work is a primed 24”x48” panel upon which 7 artists worked their creative magic to bring out a unique original in their own distinctive styles. DM to place your bids or to see what the current bid is!
Final auction results and artwork purchases will be celebrated @thelittlechurchstudio.yo in the coming weeks for a Bites and PiECES gathering. Place your BID and be our guests! Auction closes June 14th.

Art is a Plate of Plenty and I could always eat! The second @piecesgallery914 and @nancy_mendez_artist event of last weekend was The Basement: Conversations of Foundation, hosted by Taf and Kait of @littlechurchstudio.yo in their amazing space in @cmad.yo of Yonkers. This live art demonstration by 7 amazing artists was an offering of the underbelly of art. The parts we often like to keep close to our chest as we bare down our finished work. The artists showcased their creative foundations of application, technique and concept development. WITH AN AUDIENCE! With all the pebbles in place to stop the wheels of creativity from turning, these amazing artists not only created beautiful works of art; but also created a space of inspiration, conversation, and community! My joy🤗🤩 Congratulations to @christina_iris_ @artbyjagonzalez @nancy_mendez_artist @vash_art @jb_hrstry @lechamart @visumoore @uneek_vizion All pieces are up for auction and will be on view shortly. Stay tuned for more auction information. #createeveryday #thiscreativelife #yonkersartist #artisaplateofplenty
