This photo is my mother’s arms holding me up as I became a mother.

Mother’s Day is coming up and as always I think these kind of days are silly because everyday should be a celebration of life and a celebration of mothers in all forms but here we are. For the @vitallivingway newsletter, this month’s theme is “mothers” and if you happen to be on Oahu please come join us for our Mother’s Day celebration. Anyway … here is a synopsis of my entry!!!
.
Whether you are a mother, have a mother, or simply know the love of one, this is something we all share. We all come from a mother. And deep down, I think there’s a part of all of us that still longs to be mothered.

To be held with patience. Presence. Compassion. Love.

Mothering isn’t just about giving birth. We mother each other in so many quiet ways… through listening, showing up, holding space, and loving someone even when things feel hard.

Lately I’ve been thinking about how we can offer that same tenderness not only to others, but to ourselves. To speak to ourselves with more grace. To care for the Earth the way a good mother would. To remember that none of us are perfect we’re all just doing the best we can.

Maybe true mothering is simply unconditional love. For ourselves. For each other. For this beautiful world we get to be part of.

LEAD WITH LOVE….
💗
I often times find myself speechless on this platform. No words seem to do the current global status justice. I find myself slipping into hopelessness at times and realize being able to do that is a privileged gift. I am reminded that the only way to fight back is with even more love and beauty
🦋
I am so grateful for the @vitallivingway community that is being cultivated. Every month this a different theme. Last month was metamorphosis. I am praying that the planet is in a chrysalis, you know that stage where the caterpillar literally turns to black goo!!! I am praying that we are all going to unite with peace, empathy and compassion and together we will all emerge as beautiful butterflies, all spreading love and light and taking care of one another.
.
What is your prayer for the planet?? Please share even a sentence below and give it even more power and energy to manifest as True!!! Together we can save the world.

🐛Metamorphosis: a profound change in form from one stage to the next in the life history of an organism. 🦋
.
We usually think of metamorphosis in terms of butterflies—how they begin as caterpillars, cocoon themselves in stillness, and emerge transformed. But the truth is, we humans go through our own metamorphoses—again and again—if we choose to. If we allow ourselves to.
Some of these transformations are subtle. Others arrive like thunder.

For me, the most defining metamorphosis of my life was becoming a mother. I had planned a home birth—an experience I envisioned as calm, peaceful, and sacred. But as any parent will tell you, birth rarely sticks to the plan.

There were moments of chaos, of deep pain, and crying—so much crying. I remember being surrounded by the noise and the unknown, having to let go of everything I thought I controlled. There was a moment when I had to fully surrender—not just to the process, but to the mystery of life itself. I felt cracked open. And on the other side, I emerged… different. Stronger. Softer. Wiser. More me.

That’s the thing about metamorphosis—it asks you to give up the comfort of who you were for the uncertainty of who you’re becoming. And that’s not easy. Often, we resist it. We tighten our grip. We want to stay in the known, even if it’s not where we’re meant to be anymore.
But metamorphosis doesn’t happen in the comfort zone. It happens in the cocoon. In the quiet. In the surrender.

So if you’re in a season of change—whether it’s motherhood, loss, a career shift, a move, a relationship ending, or simply growing into a new version of yourself—I see you. It’s okay to be scared. It’s okay to not know what’s next. That’s all part of it.

What matters most is that you stay with it. That you trust the process. That you let yourself unfold.
