June 30, 2023: Viva Sullivan, a super talented artisanal picture framer and art restorer, came by. Music was blaring and she took center stage with the ease of someone comfortable in their own skin. This natural light portrait is amongst my favorites, ever.

There was a specific space to fill …
This beautiful bespoke frame by Viva Sullivan has a hand-fitted silk matte and incredibly finished Italian wood molding. The image is 20” by 24” and was printed to order.

Its new owners are quite pleased with the finished piece, which is from my botanical series, Alone Again,Or.

🥰 Dear friends, Viva Sullivan, a talented master framer and restorer, and her husband Anje, a skilled art handler from LA, stopped by last May and we had an amazing time! We explored Piazza Navona and enjoyed a fantastic tour. Can’t wait for spring and the gorgeous azaleas 🌺 in Piazza Spagna. Last year’s visit still feels fresh. Sharing some photos.

I had a whole essay written about 2025 but it seemed self indulgent. Here is the bottom line: gratitude. So many people came through for me this year that it was, literally, life-changing.

Thank you for teaching an old horse some new ways of looking at the world. I love and cherish all of y’all more than I can express.

Happy New Year.

❤️ I recently had the opportunity to visit the Wende Museum, where I was thrilled to meet up with dear friend and skilled framer Viva Sullivan. Her framing work has been featured prominently at the museum, and it’s always wonderful to spend time with her and her husband.
