[ESP⬇️] Peruvian diaspora embroidering for the memory of our martyrs
🧶🤍🧶

This is a collective performance art piece, a ritual of remembrance that travels across different locations in New York City.

We unfurl a Peruvian flag of mourning (black, white and black) bearing the names of those who went out to pr0.test for just!ce and never returned home, ki||ed by po|!ce and ar.med f0rces during the Go.vernment of Merino (2020), Boluarte (2022–2023), and Jeri (2025).

We also hold responsible the Fujimorist p0|itical party, who have contro||ed k0ngress for over a decade.

Today, we bring the presence of our martyrs into the midst of the Peruvian pres!dentia| e|ections in New York.
📍 Queens College

Immense thanks for the love you gave like a diaspora from Peru, Nicaragua, Mexico, Bolivia, and Colombia.

We’ll continue soon…

There’s something about being in Peru that always brings me so much joy, and makes me feel like my heart grows a few sizes. Maybe it’s because I had a pretty solitary life growing up an only child in the U.S. until I was 10, and spending my U.S. summers meant hanging out with my cousins and aunts and uncles. There was always a vibrant energy in those summers that seemed to last forever as a kid. And we still feed off of those memories and good times today.

When I visit as an adult, all the memories flood back in. The joy, the laughter, the inside family jokes. All at once. And it’s wonderful.

Being with my cousins and siblings means everything to me. They understand me in a way that no one else can. So when we get to experience something so beautiful together it makes my heart extra warm and gooey.

I hope we get to do it again soon, because it was so hard to come back home. ❤️

1 - Promised myself that I’m gonna make my dreams come true and hike to Machu Picchu after coming across many old journals where I mentioned it. Hoping to not wait too much longer 🤞🏽
2 - What can I say? I make friends everywhere I go 🤭
3 - The view at Maras, Cusco
4 - The food my family and I shared from the Pachamanca, that was cooked in the earth
5 - A wish, an intention, and my offerings to Pachamama, Mother Earth
6 - Capturing a tender moment between the newlyweds as we witnessed them being blessed by a Shaman
7 - Escorted to breakfast by llamas
8, 9 - I am now an aspiring horse girl and dream of one day riding a horse so fast and free that I can feel my hair whipping in the air (under a helmet of courseeeee!)
10 - My sister and I having a very important conversation

We’ll be back ❤️‍🔥

An unforgettable trip with some of the people I love most and that understand me on a level no one else could.

A very healing trip that had memories of my childhood resurfacing. Memories I couldn’t tell if they were made up or not any more. But memory is a funny thing, how it’s activated by the tiniest things without any notice. I’m grateful for all of it.

Being greeted by 15+ year old family jokes, not having a single bad meal, the tears, the laughs (idk how to explain it, but everything is just funnier here ❤️), and all the new memories. Love you, familia!
