I still remember crying to my mom after I got accepted into my first college because I knew we couldn’t afford it. My mom promised me God had a plan. I wasn’t entirely convinced.I almost didn’t apply to Stanford at all because I convinced myself there was no chance for me to get in.

Long story short I got in !

Then came my first chemistry exam. I cried again, convinced I didn’t belong here. She reminded me that God would never lead you somewhere and not see you through it

As a first-generation college student, I didn’t know what the Common App was. I had no roadmap, no blueprint, and no idea what this journey would require. But God opened doors I could never have opened on my own, carried me through the moments I wanted to quit, and surrounded me with people who believed in me even when I struggled to believe in myself.

It turns out God did infact have a plan much greater than anything I could imagine.

Aura is 5!

Today was my sweet girl's birthday! We celebrated with lots of snowy playtime and walks, singing, a cake, a present (new toys, one of which she really enjoyed destroying), a dance party to Elmo's Five Jive, and soooo much attention and love.

I can't believe my sweet girl is half a decade old-- a whole handful! I love her so much, and it is such a privilege to do life beside her. Aura is loving, clever, spirited, curious, determined, and incredible beyond words. She loves playing with her rubber chicken, running really fast, being covered in snow or mud, getting attention, working, staring into people's souls, holding hands with her friends, and eating treats. I am so proud of the amazing dog that she is and so grateful for all the ways she makes my life better, not only through the tasks she performs as a service dog but also with all the love, joy, and energy she brings to my life just by being in it. Whether we are studying at school, playing at the park, learning new skills, seeing patients, working at the shelter, running errands, or just having a lazy day together, every single day is better with Aura in it. What a blessing God has given me in her!
