Vanessa Karel tenía 17 años cuando empezó a viajar sola. Aunque al principio elegía destinos percibidos como “seguros” para una mujer, dentro suyo vivía el deseo de explorar más allá. “Cada viaje me enseñó algo nuevo”, asegura.

Hoy, es ella quien abre el mundo a otras viajeras a través de @greet.her, una plataforma galardonada con presencia en más de 100 países, que las conecta con guías locales verificadas, para que puedan conocer de manera segura, mientras ayudan a otras mujeres a crecer económicamente.

“Ninguna mujer debería depender de la ‘suerte de viajera’ para sentirse segura”, dice esta #MujerImparable, quien vivió una experiencia crítica en Marruecos, que la llevó a imaginar esta solución transformadora.

“He tenido que trabajar muy duro para abrir puertas en Silicon Valley”, confiesa. Pero nos motiva con su ejemplo: “No dejen que el miedo o las expectativas de otros limiten sus ganas de recorrer el mundo. Sólo tenemos una vida, y viajar sola enseña mucho sobre una misma”, concluye.

Falling in love with a local in Morocco and building a company after it
Both stories are true, but one is stronger factual than the other. I realized there wasn’t a platform dedicated to help #solofemaletravelers travel safely and with more confidence. I was tired of not feeling like I could just relax and enjoy. Tired of the cat calling, the not feeling like I had someone to reach out to in case of emergencies until it started to click. If only I had a trustworthy local friend here, everything would feel much different. So I built a company that does exactly that. Greether connects female travelers to verified local women, because relying in what I like to call

@unwto invited my startup @nomad_her to speak at the @cartier Women’s Pavilion at @expo2025japan 🇯🇵

The best part? 😎 I got to invite NomadHers from around the world.
So many of them spoke fluent Japanese—and it felt surreal meeting our community in totally new corners of the world. 🌍✨

I kept thinking… a girl from Busan is now going everywhere.
And what’s even crazier? The people around me keep growing and elevating, too.

There were 4 other incredible female entrepreneurs in tourism. Some were moms with 3 children. Some started before COVID. One now leads a team of nearly 100.

Each story gave me new energy—and reminded me:
The real reward isn’t just the speech. It’s the people you meet along the way ❤️🫶🇯🇵
