100% COMMITTED I am incredibly humbled and full of gratitude to announce my verbal commitment to run D1 track at Virginia Military Institute.

It is only through the power of God; my beautiful Mothers, Jessica and Tonya; my sisters, Vanessa and Samantha; my grandmothers, Tyra and Joyce; my PopPop, Brian; my Godfather, Daryl; my God Moms, Tanya and Khaalida; my Aunt Anna, and Uncle Don; my highschool coaches who made me see a version of myself I didn’t know was possible, Jainja Williams, Joseph McLaughlin, James Gibilisco; my go to for everything. Coach Clancy; all my beloved educators which include all administrators, and faculty at SKD and Notre Dame HS- and countless others - that I am able to fulfill his mission for my life. You all have contributed to the man I am, and the man I hope to one day become.

Finally, to Coach Bennett, Coach Gaillet, and Coach Sinegal- your faith in me is unmatched. You see me for what I am today, and you inspire me to become who I want to be tomorrow.

Time to get it done 💪🏾

Behind the Balance: Samantha Layton ’28 — Keydet Women’s Cross Country 🏃‍♀️

“Honestly, it’s the people and the atmosphere here,” she said. “It's a hard school to be in, but you bond closer with the people at this school.”

She credits consistency and organization to her success at the Institute.
