POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A few weeks ago, while scrolling through my French feeds, I started seeing the same snippet pop up again and again. It was from venti’s video for “LA FRANCE QUE G BRULÉ”, and honestly, that short clip alone said a lot. The whole thing felt so refreshing that, at first, I wasn’t even sure what to make of it. Then I just kept running it back, over and over. Needless to say, I had to dig deeper.

It didn’t take me long to trace it back to UNISHAINN, and I definitely didn’t regret going down that rabbit hole. The label, which seems to be primarily based in Belgium, is a real goldmine of talent. I started by digging further into venti, who’s been on a serious run lately, consistently dropping quality tracks while bringing something genuinely unique to the table. He feels like a strong contender to become one of the next big names in the French-speaking underground, while also catching the attention of listeners beyond that scene. From there, I turned my attention to other rappers on the label, such as Saiba and buana4, both of whom have a distinct identity and a sound that’s hard to feel indifferent about.

But there’s something else about this crew that caught my attention even more: their tendency to make music under different aliases, venturing into territory that could very much be described as ambient. This is particularly true of venti, who uses the name Manuel Francisco for these explorations. And honestly, this is by far my favourite side of his output. He’s already released several projects in that vein this year, including the excellent Kaal. Saiba has also been exploring this territory, using the alias RARASOLEIL to showcase a completely different side of his musical identity.

There’s something genuinely refreshing about UNISHAINN’s energy and approach, especially within the French-speaking music landscape. It’s always exciting to come across artists who have a real vision of their own and aren’t afraid to push their sound in unexpected directions. It’s hard to predict how much recognition these kinds of experiments will eventually receive, but as far as I’m concerned, I’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on what these artists do next.

Venti doesn’t fit into any one category, yet he checks off a lot of boxes. Although his first track was uploaded to YouTube more than five years ago, 2026 seems to be the year of his breakthrough. Let’s take a closer look at a phenomenon as elusive as it is intriguing.

Personally, I discovered him through ‘Diego Costa’—a nasal voice, a rap-singing flow, a healthy dose of sass, and a choppy beat that grabs your attention. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever heard anything quite like it; you listen again and realize you’re dealing with someone you’ll need to count on in a very close future.

Venti is a very diverse artist, from rapping on hazy beats with cloud rap influences to more digital-electronic sound while hoping on African melody.

But one thing is always there, well…never, the drums. Venti produces almost all of his tracks n he never puts drums in it, while never sounding like typical “drumless rappers” like Griselda or Marciano.

The other interesting point is that he’s part of a collective named @unishainn where he’s also starring as a producer named Manuel Francisco, delivering fully instrumental EPs where he explores even more intriguing sounds.
