Last week at UTD, was effortless ease. All vinyl, reggae and dub, played the way it should be.

Curated by @dharzee with @pagalrecords and @kyekailash, the night moved slow and steady. Deep bass, easy rhythms, and a room that found its groove without trying too hard.

If you were there, you know. If you weren’t, we’re curating something this week. Come, hang.

This Week at Monkey 🐒

A rhythm for every kind of day. Slow, deep, and everything in between.

Mon – Fri | The Gentle Practice with Shweta (@yogwithin)
Soft mornings, breath, and a slower way to begin.

Thursday | Ecstatic Dance curated by DJ Sofiya
Move freely, no rules. Just you and the music.

Saturday | Monkey x Void Gatherings (@voidgatherings) curated by Dharze (@dharzee)
A once-a-year ritual. Where sound builds, energy rises, and the dancefloor becomes one. Born from the roots of the Dharamshala scene, this is more than a gig — it’s a movement in motion.

Sunday | Dharambol Ensemble (@dharambol_ensemble)
Back again — live, layered, and felt. An evening of sound, connection, and everything in between.

Watch the space out for more details. Come, hang.

changing up the rhythm slightly by bringing a vinyl-only reggae crew of @pagalrecords and @kyekailash to our cozy scene this weekend.

this small tour will take place across friday and saturday at @thebimils and @monkey.dharamkot

a new life has come into @pagalrecords after it changed hands late last year. a legacy store in the heart of hauz khas that has nurtured and pushed vinyl culture across india

@kyekailash has been sharing the love for reggae for ages through goa and delhi, and now comes way up north to dharamshala. straight from brixton sound system culture kye kailash bringing his original roots reggae records to move people in the dhauladhar range.

catch their performances on these dates:

10th april, friday: bimil society
11th april, saturday: monkey dharamkot

our carnival has just begun. raves as an awakening to joy, peace and love! 🌈

while void gatherings pushes modern electronic music, the philosophy behind it finds more resonance with how the reggae movement evolved and the rastafarian way of life.

rooted in the earth. music that is natural. working creatively alongside the land. actions that inspire love. the community above individual egos. serving for the benefit of joy, peace and unity.

This set wasn’t built to escape anything.
but to move something through.

While curating it, I was working with keys as a weaving element...letting them guide the emotional arc wherein D minor kept returning, not by accident.
It mirrored the inner weather I was in while creating this: a period where grief was present, alive, and asking to be listened to.

Whilst I was playing, somewhere within that depth, the set began to reassert its life force.

Grateful for the floor, the forest, and everyone who stayed with the journey.

@voidgatherings and @dharzee for the vision, for all the back-end work that went into producing an event at this scale and doing so with so much love, ensuring that everyone was cared for, their boundaries honoured and needs met. 🤍

@monkeymovement.in Thank you for modelling what a human-led venue can be, one that feels like a safe space for artists and the community to truly explore sound. 🌻

@c.m.y.kokopelli you were a rockstar that night! Loved how gently you took us to your soundscapes.

@the.divine.wind your set was a series of wows and wonders ty 🫰🏽

@dharze it's hard for me to fathom that place within you from where your music comes. Thank you for another inspiring set!

@mj_maitreyee @gin_gin24 @harshkalway.music @astronautwithin @pandeylohit @raveenasakiri @tusharsinhaji @rocketship.chaddis @sbavra grateful for your warmth, your energy and your uplifting presence. Would have felt much colder without you! 🫂

all roads lead to trance and to the source of all sound. yesterday’s @voidgatherings i did an opening set as well as unexpected closing set. the closing set was given to me at 131 bpm and while my library does not have a whole lot of speedy tracks, i figured i should just send it! what came together was a beautiful trance journey where time stopped and we journeyed through the night to day, through autumn and winter and came back after a whole revolution around the sun. moments like this tells me that just music is enough. much love to everyone who showed up to share their united love for sound and the DJs @25eyemusic and @atharv_mundada for sharing your music. looking forward to entertaining everyone again soon!

much love, dz
