Free party does not mean that other people work for us for free, nor does it mean that the party has no expenses that need to be covered.

Free party means that some people put in more effort so that all of us can create something beautiful together, in an environment where everyone feels comfortable and welcome. It means supporting the mutual-aid fund that exists, putting our own rubbish in one of the many bags available throughout the space so that someone else doesn’t have to do it for us, and, towards the end of the party, when we see someone collecting things or carrying stuff, going over and helping them with whatever they need.

The purpose of the event is not profit, so we are not workers during the party, and the people who come are not customers. We are people who want to dance, release the pressure of the everyday oppression we experience in our working environments, spend time with others, meet new people, listen to the music, and feel free.

Awareness and consideration in everything we do are essential, especially towards the people around us, but also in a broader sense. We are different people coming together in a shared dance and with a similar purpose. There is no reason for our opinion to prevail if someone tells you that it would be better not to do something at that moment.

We respect the space, nature, the sound system, and the people around us. The organizers are always there if an issue arises, so please feel free to approach them.

And solidarity, when it is put into action, is at its strongest.

Free party means freedom, and freedom can never exist on the backs of others.

Finally posting my set from June for Bye, Gay: A Pride Month Farewell!

This one really takes you for a ride, ended up feeling like a representation of my personal experience as a queer person today and through the years — cramming bright whimsy, brazen confidence, sex, sensuality, euphoria, celebratory joy, camp, even the more confronting and unrelenting into a 50-minute reflection tailored to the dance floor.

While I don’t anticipate tackling another similar undertaking in the near future (single-handedly organizing an entire event), I’m so beyond proud of myself for taking this leap and saying “Bye, Gay” with my friends on this entirely LGBTQ+ lineup. Thank you again to @affectfield, @madgavs, and @_calli3fornia for joining me. Only right to have this set live on as a memento of the occasion. Here’s to loud and proud queerness all gd year long baby!! STAY GAY, my divas!! <3
