Gallery walls in every home/apt are a must. It’s non-negotiable.

You’ve seen them trending on Instagram, Pinterest, and in print media. However, they’re always timeless and just incredibly fun.

Curating one can feel overwhelming, and even more-so the hanging. Here are some tips to make this endeavor less daunting:

🪑 Don’t be worried about adding too many pieces to your gallery wall. I would add more than you think will work and then subtract if it feels too busy.

🪑 Test drive the layout on the floor prior to hanging. This will help determine how much breathing room you need. (“Breathing room” is the space between each piece.)

🪑 Don’t be afraid to use different frame colors and styles, but something must unite all the artworks in some way. Sometimes, it’s color proximity but nothing has to match, exactly though.

🪑 Don’t be afraid to hire an art installer to help with the hanging. Many quality installers aren’t expensive, and it can be tricky getting everything to hang just so. (A hired handyman from Task Rabbit has saved many a wall.)

Have you been eager to tackle a gallery wall? Have you already tried?

Let me know, and hit SAVE on this post for when you’re up to the task.

Invernizzi Art Lab introducing LUIS FABINI _ NYC based. On site exhibit @voltaartfairs nyc (Sept 4-8

Harvest / Luis Fabini

In this edition, Fabini captures six poignant images that juxtapose the timeless rhythms of rural communities with the relentless march of globalization. Each photograph is a testament to the resilience and adaptability of these communities, highlighting their integral role in preserving agro-biodiversity. The visual narrative is enriched by the artist’s unique ability to translate the cultural and symbolic significance of these practices into the language of contemporary art.

The series not only reflects on the fragility and beauty of these systems but also invites viewers to contemplate their significance in the broader context of ecological and cultural sustainability.

The arrival of June ought to offer a reprieve after a busy May art fair calendar packed to the rafters with events both in and outside of New York City. But if the June art fair calendar is only refreshingly light because of Art Basel’s global dominance, at least the next best thing to a month off is a few weeks on the Rhine.

This first year at 42 Allen street, has been a very special one for FORMah Gallery. During this year we curated eight exhibitions at our gallery space, three of which solo presentations, we participated in @voltaartfairs, showed in two pop-up locations (@sfah_1901 and @renwickfas), published one catalogue, and overcame one annoying leak. We created exposure to 23 female artists, 5 of which showed this year in museums around the world. Our team has grown, we hosted lots of events and created multiple collaborations.

With each day, with every exhibition we are shaping our presence in the art-universe.

Thank you to our artists, patrons and collaborators. We can't do it without you.

Our second year of programing starts with a two-person exhibition “Who Am I” featuring @mlkirch and @hannahdugganart, opening December 1st.

We look forward to seeing you to FORMah gallery!
