@sarahsmith.05's first Dance Marathon was in 2010. She was 4 years old, receiving treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at @dollychildrens and attending as a Miracle Kid.

She remembers the college students making her feel like a superstar. She remembers playing games with her Child Life specialist, Anna, who made hospital visits feel a little less scary and always made sure Sarah’s two older brothers were included too.

More than 15 years later, Sarah is now President of @volthon.

“I knew I wanted to join VOLthon going into college because of my experience attending Dance Marathon as a patient.”

This year carries even more meaning. VOLthon is fundraising for the Hogs for the Cause Hematology Oncology Center at Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital, the same area of care that became such a big part of Sarah’s childhood.

From being the kid celebrated at Dance Marathon to leading the students creating that experience for the next family, Sarah gets to end her college career surrounded by some of her favorite people and giving back to a place that has meant so much to her family.

| Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital | Today, I met these lovely ladies on campus having fun with a megaphone, miss Addison shouted out toward me with that megaphone… and we indeed up in a spontaneous interview, who knew! Sarah, Addison, and Simone are out on campus spreading the word about the campus Volthon taking place right now raising awareness, involvement, and funding for the Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital. The cool bonus was the personal testimony of how this great place saved one of these ladies very own life. Listen in and let’s allow Sarah to tell her own story. Blessings. 🪑❤️🌅

Special pop-up today with @volthon 🧡 Getting to stand alongside VOLthon and support Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital after yesterday’s tragedy was truly something special🦋🩷 Forever honoring Dolly’s legacy of giving back to the children of East Tennessee🩷🦋 Thank you guys so much for loving my prints, yall seriously blew me AWAY! I didn’t get many pictures, but I am so happy I got to meet so many new friends!!!

Management Hits the Road! 🚐

This past week, our Management Team packed their bags and headed to the Ignite Peer to Peer Leadership Conference to connect with Dance Marathon programs from across the country. From presenting about DM at FSU to learning from other organizations, we brought home new ideas and inspiration for Year 32.

We were also honored to receive the Excellence in Donor Engagement Award, a recognition that celebrates the meaningful relationships we’ve built with our donors and our commitment to keeping them connected to the impact of their support. We’re incredibly grateful to every donor who believes in our mission and helps make a difference! 💙💛

Thank you so much to Children’s Miracle Network and Dance Marathon for hosting an incredible weekend. Getting to meet so many amazing champions and champion families as well as connecting with dance marathons across the country was an experience our staff will never forget.
