What happens behind the visuals that transform a space into an immersive experience?

Presented by @epsonamerica, this series of project presentations brings together artists, studios and cultural institutions working across installation, scenography and live audiovisual performance.

Discover the creative processes behind projects by Moment Factory, Volvox Labs, Mika Oki and the Museum of Art + Light, through case studies exploring the artistic decisions and technical challenges behind ambitious immersive works.

The session also includes a closer look at the Museum of Art + Light, showcasing how Epson's projection technology helps bring together digital, immersive, and fine art in a unique cultural experience.

At a time when generative tools are everywhere, this session puts the focus back on what matters most: artistic intention, distinctive creative voices and thoughtful visual storytelling.

August 27 as part of MUTEK Forum.

Cultural Instinct Meets Artificial Intelligence.

@repl.it partnered with MATTE to create Vibecon with the aspiration of reframing code (specifically vibecoding) as a creative medium. MATTE led the strategy, design, programming, and production to bring this new platform to life.

Over two days, artists, designers, filmmakers, musicians, researchers, entrepreneurs, and technologists came together through talks, performances, workshops, and immersive installations designed to spark experimentation, unexpected collisions, and the exchange of ideas.

Vibecon became the first chapter of a new IP, bringing together disciplines that rarely share the same room while offering a new vision for how conversations around technology and creativity can happen.

Over two dense days at the new Llotja de Mar venue in central Barcelona, Sónar’s innovation lab brought together artists, researchers and technologists to ask what kind of world we’re actually building with the new tools. ⚡️🕹️

What emerged was a striking tension: on one side, genuinely optimistic experiments in human–machine collaboration; on the other, a cold, forensic look at how the same systems can scale violence when they’re steered by the wrong incentives and the wrong people in power. 🎛️

AI is great at building boring business apps. But what about art? Music? Even perfume? At Replit’s inaugural Vibecon, the event that quickly became known as “Vibe Coding Coachella” the startup set out to prove that AI does have a role to play in creative spaces. I’m taking you inside to show you all the bizarre things AI is doing here, so you can decide: should we let AI become a creativity tool? Or leave it to vibe coding our CRM dashboards?

-Met inspiring artists and learned what’s possible in art with AI and robotics
-Finding and connecting with the ridiculously talented @volvoxlabs 🤯
-Hearing authentic discussions with un-conventional questions and brilliant insights.
-Many great conversations and new friends

Thank you to Haya Odeh for the intentional design and curated spaces and thanks to the whole @repl.it team for making this happen.
