This one is so special. 🕯️

With the help of our amazing friend @bell_star_tx, we have turned our front room into a community altar for all to add to this Second Saturday.

On October 10th from 7PM to 11PM, stop by @souplaws and I’s open studio for a night of art, trick-or-treat goodie bags, an artisan market full of local vendors, and a community ofrenda where you can leave a photocopy of a loved one you would like to honor.

No photo to bring? No worries. We will have cards available to write their names on instead.

What a magical night for community. 🕯️

October’s Second Saturday has a name. 🚂

The Deadhead.

In railroading, a deadhead move is when equipment travels empty, not carrying cargo, just repositioning for what comes next. It is movement with purpose.

We are a little over a month out from something big along the Lone Star Trail. October is us getting into position.

Open studios, artisan market, Halloween vibes, and a community ofrenda. October 10th at 7PM.

We’re beaming with gratitude 🫶

So many conversations, so many beautiful people! We’re so thankful to everyone who visited our slice of Second Saturday, and to those who consistently show up for our collective communities.

Next Second Saturday is October 10th! We’re following up “The Gondola” with “The Hopper” 👀

Second Saturday is tomorrow, and this is your friendly reminder to have FUN. 🤭

In between art projects, @souplaws and I carve out the time to prep the studio for the community each month. We sweep, dust, wrestle with the weeds that grow through concrete, and stock up on complimentary beverages. Most importantly, we invite vendors to set up and open our doors to anyone interested in seeing the inside of our working studio.

White walls are scarce here, because we’re not a gallery - we spill paint and collect unfinished projects like everyone else! But we have fun and that’s really all that matters for us.

At the end of the day, nothing beats sweating through several hours of Texas heat and having a cold beverage with good company.

See you all tomorrow at 7pm. 🛤️

We have been so lucky to build this vendor community over the past six months and we cannot wait to bring so many familiar faces back for The Gondola on September 12th.

These are the makers, artists, and small businesses that make this corridor what it is. 🥹💕

More vendors to be announced this week. Doors open at 7PM. See you there. 🌱

Six months of Second Saturdays in Southtown, and September makes lucky number seven. 🚃

@souplaws and I are so grateful for the love and support we’ve received since we started activating this past March. We’ve watched this stretch of S. Flores come alive alongside our neighbors, fellow studios, and the businesses that call this corridor home. That is exactly what Second Saturday is about. Artists, businesses, residents, and locals coming together to connect.

September’s Second Saturday is on the 12th. Doors open at 7PM as always, and we’ve got a full house of vendors to announce soon. This one has a name.

Welcome to The Gondola. 🌱

Second Saturday lands on September 12th. 🌱

Y’all, these next 3 months are going to be a whirlwind. We’re gearing up for November, and in order to do that we’re starting this new season with “The Gondola.”

This rail car is most recognizable filled with gravel and other heavy, loose materials. We’re using this as a direct analogy to the raw materials we’ll be sourcing for a temporary art installation coming this fall.

Come help us “load up.” 🤭🤠

Open studios, artisan market, and the Lone Star Trail right outside our door.

September 12th… see you there. 🚃
