Ed @edjunquet accidentally grabbed the new Ozone @ozone.wing Pocket Rocket Ultra X during a session in Hood River and ended up blown away by how it handles.
Even in gusty conditions, the upwind angles on this thing are incredible. The lighter material makes a massive difference, especially when it comes to packability. The 5.7 meter Ultra X actually packs down smaller than a standard 4.3 meter Pocket Rocket V2. That light canopy material really shines when you are looking for maximum power with minimal pouch volume.

Marcus from Code Foils @codefoils explains how the new R2 series actually started.

The original idea was to create a higher aspect race foil simply called the Race. But once Code started getting prototypes under their feet, something unexpected happened.

They realized the new foil wasn’t just faster. It was doing everything better than the R1.
So what started as a completely different race foil eventually became the new R2.

FIVE HOURS. 30+ MILES. One 4M Frigate V2.

Ed @edjunquet got his first real taste of the F-One @fonefoil Frigate V2 in Hood River and put it through a serious session.
Riding in winds from the mid 20s into the high 20s, he spent about five hours testing the 4M through gusts, long upwind runs, downwind swells and plenty of stowing and redeploying.

The biggest standouts?

The upwind performance was right up there with the best single skin parawings Ed has ridden.
The new stow lines are smooth and easy on the hands, making it simple to get the Frigate out of the air when turning downwind onto a swell.

The smaller bar and updated grip also made a noticeable difference, especially while riding with a harness for long sessions.
After 30 miles or more, Ed came away seriously impressed with the V2.

Here’s a simple foil setup trick that can save you a ton of time.
If your mast bolts don’t slide on and off you don’t need to remove the track bolts from the mast.
Simply slide the top bolts into the tracks first, then slide in the bottom bolts, and you’re ready to go.
It works with most track systems, even ones with the track openings in the middle.
Mast installation in less than 5 seconds.

Vadim goes from the Code @codefoils Aluminum and HM masts straight onto the new Black Series and the difference was immediately noticeable.
He felt like he had to work significantly less and pump much less. Once he got higher on the mast, it felt like he unlocked another gear, with noticeably less drag and more glide.
Same board. Same foil. Same tail. Same fuse. Just a different mast.

Surfing already has a steep learning curve, but when you start foiling, you have to understand waves in a completely different way.
It’s not just about paddling harder or catching the same waves you would on a surfboard. Foiling changes what you’re looking for, and learning to read the ocean from that perspective takes time.
