Artists, understand this: There is no such thing as being “bad at art.” You are the art. Art is beyond technique. It’s beyond theory. Look at your artistic expression as the documentation of the spirit of the times. Your art is like a diary, your experiences the brushstrokes. You are the art. Every move you make, every experience you take, is a stroke on the canvas. We are artists creating for positive social change. Let’s let the art do the talking. Artists, we have work to do. Think institutionally for a minute. Existing organizations create predictable outcomes. These outcomes are either adequate or fall short of their goals. When systems don’t work, we don’t blindly push forward, we refine the system. This doesn’t mean breaking the system down. This means building off of what works to make it work better. As artists, we can visualize the interconnections between institutions. We can use our work to create impact maps and visual narratives, allowing policymakers to consider the broader effects and unintended consequences of implementations. As artists, we need to be at the center of the policymaking process, not the margins. Let’s let the art do the talking. Artists, are you thinking institutionally? Everything is interconnected and it’s all by design. As an artist, you have the ability to illustrate and visualize these interconnections. You have the ability to evoke thoughtful conversations about the ways in which the world’s institutions function in cohesion. Do not take this skill for granted, but nurture it. In a world growing with complexity, visionary artists and designers will be increasingly called upon to provide clarity in a world full of noise. Let’s let the art do the talking. Self expression is an art, so let the art do the talking. - Powered by Verity, LLC | EST. 2022 Written and Designed by @kylanstephon 🔸Creative Work and Consulting fund our platform.
