Black-tailed deer are one of the most commonly encountered large mammals along BC’s coast, found from Vancouver Island through the Lower Mainland and up the length of the coastal mainland.

They are a subspecies of mule deer, distinguished by a shorter, darker tail with a black tip running its full length rather than just the underside. Unlike many other deer species, black-tails thrive in dense, wet coastal rainforest and are often spotted browsing on salal, huckleberry, and young conifer growth in recently logged or regenerating forest.

They tend to be smaller and more solitary than their interior mule deer relatives, adapted to the thick cover and steep terrain of BC’s coastal ecosystems.

When more than 100,000 of you came to the farm, these photos are only a small glimpse of the memories you created.

We spend all year planning, always asking ourselves one question, “What will bring our guests the most joy?”

Then you show us.

We see grandparents making memories with their children and grandchildren, couples celebrating engagements, friends laughing in the fields, and sweet pups prancing through the rows.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for an incredible season. We can’t wait to welcome you back next spring. 🧡.

The Mountain Bluebird is one of BC's most visually distinctive songbirds. Males display vivid sky-blue plumage, most commonly seen in open habitats including meadows, grasslands, and forest edges.

This photo was captured mid-flight at Feather Park in Squamish.

Love is a Verb Events is a queer-owned company founded on the knowingness that community is essential and love must be lived through action. We understand that gathering is not neutral and taking and creating space is activism. We create every event with intentionality, impeccability, inclusivity and joy. We believe care is logistical as much as it is emotional. We are thoughtful in the details and bold in our vision.

We are on a mission to make community the foundation of every space we create. We know the world can function as a third place, a place where people meet, belong, organize, and celebrate, and where diversity and individuality are honored.

For us, an event is never just an event. It is a moment of collective empowerment.

Anna’s Hummingbirds can be found in BC year-round — a rare trait among hummingbird species. In winter, they’re most often seen in the southwest of the province, where the climate is milder.

While they are wild birds, #AnnasHummingbirds often rely on feeders for nectar during the colder months. If you have a #hummingbirdfeeder, or want to get one, following a few simple best practices can help keep these tiny birds safe and healthy:

❊ During cold snaps, check feeders regularly to make sure nectar hasn’t frozen (or take the feeder down until temperatures rise)
❊ Place feeders in a sheltered location, ideally protected from wind
❊ Use a 1:4 ratio of white sugar to water (boiled, then fully cooled — no dyes or honey)
❊ Clean feeders thoroughly and often; mold and fungus can be deadly to hummingbirds
❊ Refill feeders frequently to ensure a consistent, high-energy food source
