Just a moment to brag on my people.

Seriously, I have some of the best people in my life and they live all over. A little bit ago I asked my community, friends, and family (Those are synonymous to me) for a little "pick me up."

Wow.

You guys blew me away and gave me a reason to start using snail mail myself again more.

I feel so seen by you all. The personal touches that have gone into your gifts, cards, texts, etc have made me cry happy tears. They have made me feel loved. I feel so much gratitude for the amazing people in my life. So many of you showed up in ways I can't put into a picture or even in words, thank you, truly.

I am still not okay with how my heart has been behaving (its been really bad lately) or the ablation I am facing at the end of the month. For as many health woes as I have faced in the past 6 years I am still incredibly lucky and thankful. I have the most beautiful support system. I love you guys. 💚✨️

#throwbacktuesday: I recently came across these Breast Reconstruction magazines on my bookshelf. This was a passion project of mine at my previous organization. I had the opportunity to launch the organization’s first patient publication in 2017 to raise awareness about breast reconstruction and highlight cancer survivors and racial disparities in breast cancer care. 🙌🏾

I LOVED working on this magazine and looked forward to publishing the special issue each October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It was a privilege to spotlight these women and tell their stories of courage, strength, and resilience. 💪🏾🙏🏾

Here are a few of my favorite articles I worked on. 🎀💖

@forthebreastofus graced the cover of the 2021 issue.
I was excited to highlight the founders’ efforts to amplify the experiences of marginalized voices through their inclusive online community. 💕

The article also showcased their beautiful When You See Us photo campaign to celebrate thrivers of color and the incredible work they are doing to help women of color to feel seen. 👏🏾🙌🏾 @forthebreastofus

Alexa, play something for the Latina Baddies.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re celebrating the incredible Latinas who make our community what it is, including some of our current and former Baddie Ambassadors.

These women have shared their stories, used their voices, poured into community, and helped make spACE for other Women of Color impacted by breast cancer.

Ladies, thank you for giving the community what you wished and know you needed 👏🏾👏🏼👏🏽👏🏿

Show these Baddies some LOVE in the comments!

Thank you, beautiful @vslaurel for sharing this milestone with us! Keep dancing ♥️♥️♥️

Get @reshare_app • @vslaurel Six years since I finished chemo. My curls are kicking. My chest is flat. My scars itch when it’s hot. My joints ache but I still dance daily. My circle of friends has grown. My appreciation for life is at an all time high. There’s so much more life to live. 💜

Not the playlist I would’ve chosen, but the one I lived.
Full of science, appointments, learning curves, hard days, and unexpected connection.
A year of showing up, trusting research, leaning on support, and finding light where I could ✨

Grateful for the doctors, the data, the trials, the care teams, and the people who made this year feel less heavy, especially my support squad (family) and the Breasties who just get it 🫂
Still healing. Still learning. Still here 🫶💖

Special thanks to @neekstj for designing the template and helping bring this Wrapped to life 💗🎨

The best thing I learned at SABCS?

Patient advocacy matters.

It’s heard. It’s valued. And it’s shaping the future of oncology.
I’m leaving SABCS with a whole new appreciation for the medical community, the researchers, the pharmaceutical industry—and most importantly, the role of patients at the table. Advocacy isn’t an add-on. It’s essential in every area of oncology.

To witness the true respect for lived experience in these spaces was powerful.
To see advocacy influencing research, language, and care? Even more so.

We don’t just belong in these rooms.
We can help lead the pack. 👑
