You’re not broke in college because jobs don’t exist.

You’re broke because you panic into the first one you see.

Then the job slowly eats your schedule, energy, and focus.

Students don’t burn out because of work.
They burn out because they never set a limit.

Chapter 9 — Work Without Burnout

🌱Guide in bio.

Stop lacking the courage to email your professor during exam week.

You don’t freeze because you’re incapable.
You freeze because sending the email means you lose control of the outcome.

A “no” forces adjustment.
A “yes” forces follow-through.

Silence lets you stay in limbo.

But limbo is expensive.

Clarity builds leverage.
Structure reduces fear.

You don’t need courage.
You need a plan.

Send it.

Your roommate isn’t the problem.

Silence is.

You smiled.
You said “it’s fine.”
You swallowed it.

Now you’re resentful.

Comment:
“READY” if you’re going to say something.
“AVOIDING” if you’re not there yet.

No judgment. Just honesty.

Homesickness isn’t cute.

It’s withdrawal.

And scrolling instead of showing up doesn’t make you misunderstood — it makes you stuck.

You’re not special.

You’re untrained.

That’s fixable.

Nobody is obligated to make this easier for you.

Not your professor.
Not your roommate.
Not your friends.

That sounds harsh.

It’s freeing.

Because once you stop waiting, you start building structure.

And structure beats comfort.

Do you agree or disagree?

The world doesn’t stop because your heart is heavy.

Deadlines don’t pause.
Midterms don’t care.

Homesickness isn’t just emotional.

It has consequences.

Structure isn’t optional.

When homesickness hits, your brain lies.

It tells you to isolate.
It tells you nothing matters.

Stop negotiating with it.

Reduce decisions.

Water.
Sunlight.
One lap.

Adults do useful things even when they don’t feel like it.

If emailing feels terrifying,
that fear is already costing you grades.

Not because you’re incapable.
Not because you’re weak.

Because silence feels safer than speaking —
until outcomes are locked in.

You don’t need confidence.
You need the language the system responds to.

Anxiety isn’t the reason for your failing grade.
You are.

You stayed silent.
Silence led to the failing grade.
Change the behavior, change the outcome.

Agree or comment why you think that’s wrong.
