🧡💙 Giving Back to Our Trojan Community! This past weekend, the Office of Student Services and Community Engagement, in partnership with multiple organizations across campus, hosted a Campus Cleanup! Together, we worked to restore the beauty of our campus and create a cleaner, more welcoming environment for our Trojan community. A huge thank you to everyone who came out, volunteered their time, and showed their support! Your dedication to service and commitment to keeping our campus beautiful truly make a difference.

Motivational Monday | Protect Our Home. 🧡💙 This week, we’re reminded that protecting our community is a responsibility we all share. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Virginia State University is our home. In light of recent events, we encourage every Trojan to remain aware, look out for one another, speak up when something isn’t right, and do your part to keep our campus safe. Change begins when we stand together and hold ourselves and one another accountable. Join the campus community on August 28th at 12 PM at Foster for a gun violence awareness protest. See something. Say something. Protect our home. #MotivationalMonday #BetaGamma #AlphaPhiAlpha #VirginiaStateUniversity #GunViolenceAwareness

🚨 TOMORROW AT VIRGINIA STATE UNIVERSITY. 🚨 The research is done. Now it’s time for the conversation. On Tuesday, August 25, I’ll present findings from our research examining the economic realities facing Black men and boys—and, more importantly, we’re bringing together leaders from across Virginia to talk about what we do next. I’m honored to be joined by an incredible group of confirmed speakers: 🎙️ Senator Lamont Bagby 🎙️ Coach Ty White, Sr. — Petersburg High School 🎙️ Mike Street — 106.5 FM 🎙️ Dr. Joshua Epps — Educator & Wellness Professional 🎙️ Eldon Burton — VSU Associate Vice President 🎙️ Zin Cambridge — VSU SGA President This will be more than a presentation. 📊 THE RESEARCH. 🗣️ THE CONVERSATION. 💡 THE SOLUTIONS. 🎯 THE CALL TO ACTION. We’re going to talk about education, employment, economic mobility, health, opportunity—and what the data tells us about the experiences of Black men and boys nationally and right here in Virginia. And then we’re going to ask the most important question: What are we prepared to DO about it? 📍 Black Box Theater | Harris Hall Virginia State University 📅 Tuesday, August 25 🚪 Doors: 5:30 PM ⏰ Program: 6:00 PM FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Students. Faculty. Educators. Elected officials. Community leaders. Parents. Coaches. Young people. I want you in the room. Seating is limited, so RSVP today. #StateOfBlackMenAndBoys #BlackMenAndBoys #VirginiaStateUniversity #VSU #JMLI
