We are thrilled to welcome Vukile, a passionate Afro-soul singer and songwriter, to Thrive this year 💛✨

Hailing from Langa, Cape Town, Vukile discovered his passion for music at the tender age of five. A graduate of the Bridges for Music Academy, his journey has taken him to new heights, including a recent performance in Soweto, Jozi, this past October.

Vukile’s music carries a deeper mission: to inspire men to embrace mental health awareness and to encourage open, honest conversations about their emotions. With a soulful voice and a heartfelt purpose, he creates a space where healing and connection flourish 🌞

Join us at The Sun Temple on New Year’s Day to experience Vukile’s powerful and uplifting voice as we come together to celebrate the strength and unity of community.

Beyond Busking Project 2023 is a CT Arts Festival's brainchild to change the perception of busking in South Africa. The project takes buskers off the streets and provides 3 months of upskilling and developing buskers with training in songwriting, vocal training, stage presence, equipment training, musical arrangement, and professional studio productions of the original songs.

Last year 8 buskers, mostly youth and including women, had an opportunity to improve their performance skills, write their own original songs, and have them professionally produced. In addition, the Buskers were taught the values needed to make them successful in their personal lives and careers.

A special thanks to our facilitators and music mentors/coaches. composers, producers, @clive_songwriter of Cape Town School of Songwriting,@abigailpetersenmusic, @jonnyblundell, Lynne Holmes, and Fatima Dike.

This project was a partnership with @ariva.artsfoundation & @vandawaterfront and funded by PESP (Presidential Employment Stimulus Package 4), and managed by BASA @bizart_za (Business and Arts South Africa) and DSAC @sportartsculturersa (Department of Sports, Arts and Culture).
