Dear friends,

Untouchable went out last week.

Ever since my uni days in Bologna, @so_beast_so_beast have been dear friends and family to me. To this day, they remain among the most inspiring people I know. When Kate finally called saying that instead of one, we were doing 3 to 4 tracks, with Absolutely (Film) by Dijon as reference, I knew this would be the most important piece of musical work I had made, for now.

Untouchable, a three-piece live session film sharing the title of the new album, showcases live arrangements of Dragona Celeste, Untouchable and Moment to Hide. We had one rule — nothing should get in the way of emotion. Early on, we also decided not to hide the set, but intentionally show the crew and lighting.***

In Dragona Celeste, shot on the Avata FPV drone with @mateo_jurcic_videography, the camera became the celestial dragon So Beast sings about — flying freely in and out of the space, at one point rising above Split, Kate’s hometown. Our dragon’s flight showcased @skateboardkolo, the perfect location both visually and emotionally, where we spent three full days in a trance, in this beautiful building complex Kocka.

In Untouchable, cameras were rigged onto the musicians and instruments, meaning the movements were choreographed directly by them. If they got intense, the shots became intense; if they calmed down, the shots followed. The edit switches between perspectives, giving the feeling of moving with the band, while the band remains Untouchable. Building the rig with @aronkovacic was a real pleasure — wireless pan systems on a DIY aluminium rig — amazing stuff.

The last piece, Moment to Hide, called for an even more behind-the-scenes approach, but also needed to feel the most magical. Full of raw, dreamy samples from daily life and intimate thoughts, it felt right to shoot it on camcorders — a big love of mine. With a bit of dry ice and shooting exclusively in night vision mode, the idea was to shoot like we were inside a dream.

And it was a dream, a dream come true 🌌
