Let’s talk about boric acid and vaginal health! 🩷🌸

Boric acid isn’t a magical fix for every vaginal concern, but it DOES have some potential benefits when used appropriately!

✨ Antifungal properties: May help manage certain stubborn yeast infections, especially when traditional treatments haven’t worked.

✨ Support for recurrent BV: May be beneficial as part of a clinician-guided treatment plan for recurrent bacterial vaginosis.

✨ Alternative treatment option: Can offer another approach for women struggling with certain recurrent or treatment-resistant vaginal infections.

✨ Vaginal environment: By addressing certain infections, it may help support a return to a healthier vaginal environment.

The reality? Your vagina is self-cleaning, and boric acid isn’t something everyone needs! It’s important to understand when these products are actually beneficial versus when they’re unnecessary.

Many of our patients come to use with pelvic floor dysfunction. From pain in the pelvic region, painful intercourse, bladder issues, and discomfort. Upon an assessment and evaluation of the pelvic floor muscles, many times we discover that the muscles and fascia of the pelvic floor are hypertonic - or tense.

In this scenario, strengthening via exercises and Kegels is not beneficial and can actually worsen symptoms. We want to released those areas of tension. Allowing the tissues to become more fluid and easily movable.

During treatment, we work together using manual therapy to work on those trigger points and areas of tension. But the work doesn’t stop in the treatment room! There are tools like the VWell Flex Wand that are perfect for self-treatment at home!

We see that consistent treatment of the area is what really allows those muscles to learn how to relax and let go. During treatment, we will always focus on what you are unable to do yourself and will ensure to equip you with all the ways you can continue to heal, on your own.
