This last art workshop led by Sophia was a beautiful reminder of our inner child and the endless possibilities of who we can become, not only as individuals but as a community, a tribe, and a collective of people with passionate ideas and radical ways of seeing the world.

We began in a circle, introducing ourselves and sharing from the heart. From there, we gathered beneath the shade of a tree for meditation and sound healing, grounding ourselves before moving into the creative process. During the art workshop, we poured our expressions onto paper and allowed our imagination to flow freely. At one point, we exchanged artwork and colors with the person beside us, a reminder that we never truly create alone. Everything is connected, and each of us plays a part in shaping the whole.

The day continued at Malcolm X Park, where the rhythm of the drums carried us deeper into joy, movement, and expression. We closed the evening by sharing a meal together, slowing down, reflecting on the day, and sending Sophia off with love as she prepares for her next journey.

A day rooted in creativity, connection, and community that will stay with us for a long time.☀️🌿🙌🏾🌾

The Trail Forge was born from a feeling of disconnection and a series of questions: why are we priced out of everything? why is the land being polluted? why can’t we live in true abundance with nature? Trail Forge exists in opposition to those realities. We stand together to restore balance in how we relate to ourselves, to one another, and to the earth.

What began as a simple idea to reconnect people with nature has grown into a living community rooted in care intention and togetherness. On January 11th 2026 The Trail Forge gathered for our first convening of the year and it reminded us what is possible when people come together with open hearts.

We opened in a circle creating space for everyone to be seen and heard then gathered by the fire for a deep collective meditation. From there Ronin led a carving workshop guiding us into the woods to find pieces of wood that spoke to us. The energy was one of curiosity freedom and trust as people moved through the forest finding their own way. We also stopped by the nature center at Rock Creek Park grounding our learning even deeper in place.

We shared warm food curry with potatoes, tostones and hot apple cider before settling into the craft. As hands met wood creativity flowed. India shared her bow and arrow inviting embodied play and skill sharing. Shout out India mannn.

We closed by the fire sharing stories and reflections. This is what community looks like moving as one while honoring individuality. This is The Trail Forge and there is always room by the fire for you.

The Trail Forge began as a mission. A call to return people to our home Earth and to one another. It was built to bring people together to forge real connections carve new paths and restore the creative field of thinking that the world works so hard to exhaust.

As I look back on this year I see individuals who answered that call. People who showed up and poured their energy into one another. People willing to walk, listen, learn and stand side by side. The Trail Forge became a place of safety and strength. A place where people could reconnect with the land beneath their feet and remember what it means to belong to something larger than themselves.

Every Trail Forge was its own operation. Each one carried a unique intention a distinct energy and a purpose of its own. That is why we number them. The numbers mark growth. They hold power. They document momentum. They remind us that what we are building is alive and moving forward.

We closed this year with Trail Forge Nine. We gathered around fire. We shared cacao. We reflected on what this year demanded of us and what it gave back. That was not coincidence. That was ceremony. That was intention in action.

So I ask you which Trail Forge did you answer the call to. Which one shifted you. Which one changed how you move through this world.

And understand this we are not finished. We are entering the next phase. Trail Forge Ten is on the horizon and when it arrives it will carry everything we have learned everything we have strengthened and everything we refuse to leave behind.

This is not just a community. This is a commitment. A commitment to creativity. A commitment to stewardship. A commitment to honoring energy as the powerful force that it is. We believe in a world where abundance is not hoarded where the Earth belongs to those who walk her with respect and where freedom is not a privilege but a birthright.

Stand tall in what you have helped build. Stay ready. Stay grounded. Protect your energy. Protect each other. The world we deserve does not arrive on its own. We forge it step by step together.

On October 18th, we’ll be at Anacostia Park with Friends of Anacostia Park, Black Justice, and Synergy & Serenity for an environmental stewardship activity, grounding meditation, and guided hike. This one is for those who are meant to be there—aligned, intentional, and connected.

Then on October 25th, join us at Enjoui Farm in West Friendship, Maryland for the Harvest Fest — a community-supported celebration with farm-to-table meals, fresh juices, face painting, vendors, art, and a bonfire as the sun sets. Kid-friendly and open to all.

Both gatherings are invitations to slow down, reconnect, and honor the changing season. 🍂

We’re partnering with Fruits, Friends, and Frequencies for The Link Up. it’s a day of breath, stillness, movement, and connection. Expect to be surrounded by artists, creatives, and community builders as we walk, reflect, and simply be together.

Trail Forge 003
There is something sacred about moving through nature with intention. This hike felt guided in every way. We started later this time at 6PM, right as the sun softened and the world became still. As we finished the trail, a gentle rain began to fall, almost like a blessing.

Afterward, we gathered together, shared nourishing foods, fruits, and veggies, replenished our energy, and even played a game of kickball. But the real nourishment came through conversation. We met new faces, learned about each other’s art, passions, and creative journeys.

It felt as if everyone who came was truly meant to be there. The energy was aligned. A reminder that Trail Forge is not just about hiking, but about building something deeper — a community, a connection, and a space to be seen.
