ITS OUR LAST OPEN MIC OF THIS SEASON 2026!

so that means tomorrow is Rockaway New Year’s Eve 2027

The majority of us who endure the winter together are going to be fully immersed, fully booked, shedding our winter clad, biking everywhere, swimming often, working too much, sleeping, not enough.

May 1 signals the return of @brothersrockaway @seanypizza @lacevicheriany @panino_bozza @beach97th and the peak season for @lisenagardencenter and for many others in our community.

So before it all kicks off, we have a New Year’s Eve celebration.

Starting off the night with a sturdy jam from some of our favorites
@mf.ultra @rob_bryn @w_i_d_e_guy & your host @meddle_juice

THE MOON WILL BE FULL!

We will dedicate time to shout her way

AND there will be a countdown to midnight you won’t want to miss!

BIG THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS

In January of 2019, @thin.nyc and I embarked on the journey of recording their first EP! This thing is a ripper. Can't believe this baby is 7 years old today! 4/20 blaze it!

I believe we did this one to a click, and overdubbed everything. Lots of heavy toney with the bogner ecstasy and a 5150 (as always). All acrylic drums too!

3 years ago today this insane 4-way split was released. Idk if any physicals still exist, but if so, you should grab one.

From @thin.nyc's bandcamp:
"A 4-way split with @wallowing_noise (UK), @slabdragger (UK), and @vixenmaw (NYC), via @sludgelordrecords (UK) and @blackvoodoorecords (US)."

I recorded and mixed THIN's stuff, and then mastered the whole split. I was asked pretty early on if I'd be willing to do the master if all the bands were down. I always love working with THIN, and the opportunity to work with a bunch of different bands from all over sounded cool. It all ended up turning out great in the end! This is my favorite mix I've done for these bois.

I believe we recorded all the THIN stuff to a click (shout-out @w_i_d_e_guy), and overdubbed everything. As always, we got some really cool tones. A bunch of the songs we did were sent off to be mixed for another split too.

Anyways, this was a big undertaking by all involved, but executed so well. Really happy to have been a part of it.

In honor of @thin.nyc's one year anniversary of releasing DUSK, I'm reminiscing about our recording of DAWN in Oct 2019. Recorded live to a click, 2nd guitar overdubbed, then vox and weird shit. These guys always came prepared, and left ample room for experimentation. And they always had a fun old-school, lofi ditty on their releases. They exist in a new form now, but I'm grateful to be part of the history.

#1: ART
#2: BASS. @yours___falsely probably made that mesa boogie bass prodigy sound the best it ever had tbh. Also, I remember being surprised about the precision drive sounding so good too.
#3-5: GUITAR. Not the first (or last) time we paired the 5150 and Bogner Ecstacy through the Friedman JJ and Bogner cabs. @trashleylevine also played a strat for years (still does?) and I still don't know how I feel about it...
#6: DRUMS. @w_i_d_e_guy's kick, our ludwig acrylic toms, his snare (can't remember the make!). Killer drum sounds.
#7: shot of the band probably discussing one of the many weird time signatures and/or blast parts.
