“Assad was also partially toppled because millions of Syrians fought against it, spoke out against it. Paid their suffering and their blood and their souls for a moment of freedom for this country.”

@wafamoustafa, whose father has been forcibly disappeared by Bashar al-Assad’s forces since 2013, speaks to @mohhashem about the narratives ‘erasing’ the political agency of Syrians following the fall of Assad.

Speaking just before embarking on her journey back to Syria following the fall of Assad, Wafa joined us on Real Talk for a personal conversation, reflecting on these past years, her life in Germany and her relentless fight to find her father.

“It’s an insult to the hundreds of thousands [of Syrian prisoners] that we still don’t know anything about.”

Speaking to @mohhashem, Wafa Mustafa, a Syrian activist and journalist whose father has been forcibly disappeared by Bashar al-Assad’s forces since 2013, comments on the CNN Syrian prisoner report.

CNN has confirmed the identity of Salama Mohammad Salama, a former Syrian air force intelligence officer who appeared in a video report purporting to be a freed rebel prisoner.

Last week, the network came under intense scrutiny after releasing a video of its chief international correspondent, Clarissa Ward, accompanied by an armed rebel as they discovered a man locked away in a cell in a "secret" prison in Damascus.

@wafamoustafa joined us for an extended conversation on Real Talk following the fall of Assad’s government.

Full interview to be published soon.
