I love ears that you can use as blankets 😂 Herschel's ears have major charisma, don't they?

It's not often I do photo sessions at people's home these days, but with their new home having so much beautiful outdoor space and Walter the adorable dachshund not being able to hear or see well anymore, it felt right. So happy we got to do it here where they spend so much amazing quality time together. I left with such a smile on my face, and I know they must be hanging these prints all around their lovely home. It was so fun to get to see the prints from our previous sessions together too on the walls. That always delights me to no end!

What a marvelous year- 2022! My 10th year as a pet photographer has been wildly wonderful, and I want to thank my incredible subjects and my supporters for all the amazingness. This year I photographed 95 absolutely delightful dogs and 4 glorious cats in 6 states in such beautiful locations. To say that I’ve had the best year ever is such an understatement. I am spectacularly grateful for all of it! Thank you SO much and I can’t wait to see what glory awaits in 2023 🎉

I did actually expect to be head over heels for Herschel. I knew I was in for it! Did I also become obsessed with his wrinkly ankles? Yes, I did, as one cannot help but do!

RooPaul is one of our “bachelor boys”, which is a nice way to say “man chicken with an attitude problem”. This is his favorite perch in our rooster aviary. Three boys live here, and they tolerate one another. Running a sanctuary means CONSTANT calls for man chickens. We’ve heard every single reason on the planet for why people have been unfairly dealt a man-chicken. Here’s the bottom line... 50 percent of ALL CHICKENS are male. They’re the bottom of the barnyard hierarchy, and they rarely get a chance to live. R.A.R.E.L.Y. If you’re in the bizness of chickens in ANY WAY, you will get roosters. Period. You will. We have five here currently, and one lives in the house🙄

With so MANY awful things this year, we’re grateful to still be able to provide a safe space for animals in need... every day. We’re grateful. We’re fortunate. We’re LUCKY. We’re blessed and more than a little bit touched in the head. Thanks for making another trip around the sun with us. HAPPY SOLSTICE!!!!
