Reminiscing about my time in Berlin, filming Other People’s Money. Working with such immensely talented, ambitious and passionate people was truly an honour. Other People’s Money just won a Grimme-Preis in the Fiction category — one of the most prestigious German television awards, honoring exemplary and impactful TV productions. If you haven’t watched it yet, go do so.

This performance came from the deepest part of my heart. A reminder of why I love cinema and how grateful I am for the privilege of being an actor🫀 Afghan Women are facing an ongoing gender apartheid. Representation is crucial in breaking dangerous stereotypes and creating change. Based on the continuous incredible work and achievements of @roya.mahboob_official. @rulebreakersfilm is now streaming in the UK, US, and Europe soon ❤️

For the second year running I got to earn back a tiny fraction of what I’ve spent at the nations most middle class supermarket: Waitrose. And WHAT an advert we ended up with! Huge thanks to dream director, and director of dreams, @mollymanners for inviting me to her big ball of 90’s romcom backlit fun. I think we can all agree, this Christmas, Sweet Baby Jesus is playing second fiddle to power couple “Jiera”.

An unforgettable evening at the UK Parliament screening of Rule Breakers on September 5th in the Palace of Westminster✨🇬🇧 To stand in such a historic space and share a film that honors the courage and brilliance of Afghan women was deeply meaningful and also, painfully relevant. My heartfelt thanks to @alicemlabour for graciously hosting and organizing this event in partnership with Cllr @peym_ana & ADCO, and @wajidkhanmep for his moving words and minute of silence for Afghanistan’s earthquake victims. I’m profoundly grateful to @billguttentag , @divyankas and @roya.mahboob_official , who have helped shed light on this story and the resilience of Afghan girls around the world. And thank you to all the cast & crew who made this film possible and to all those who attended this intimate screening. Since 2021, women and girls in Afghanistan have been systematically erased from public life. They are banned from secondary and higher education, from most forms of employment, and even from parks and gyms. Social media is restricted, travel is limited, and freedom of expression is nonexistent. This is not tradition. It is gender apartheid - a system designed to segregate and suppress women solely because of their gender. And yet, the world has still not formally and universally recognized it as such. We must name it to challenge it. Recognition matters. This is how change starts. Art can be a mirror, but it must also be a megaphone. May this film remind us of the power of an educated girl and that Afghan women’s fight for education and freedom is a fight for us all 🇦🇫 #rulebreakers #letafghangirlslearn
