George L. Jackson wrote Blood in My Eye from an isolation cell, completing it only days before he was killed at San Quentin on August 21, 1971. More than five decades later, his words still confront the machinery of oppression, capitalism, fascism, and the prison system—and still challenge us to transform political awareness into organized action.

Black August calls us to study deeper, sacrifice with purpose, discipline ourselves, honor our political prisoners, and continue the unfinished work of liberation.

Don’t just post the names.
Learn the history.
Read the words.
Understand the struggle.
Then organize.

George Jackson, Fleeta Drumgo, and John Clutchette became symbols of a generation that forced America to confront questions about race, prisons, justice, and human dignity. Whether through George Jackson’s writings, the eventual acquittal of Drumgo and Clutchette, or the movement their case inspired, their names became part of a broader struggle that continues to shape conversations around incarceration and liberation today.
