No matter who you are, where you come from, or what you believe - everyone deserves to feel safe in the place they call home.

That’s why we’re modernising laws to strengthen protections against discrimination for people from all walks of life - helping us build safe and inclusive communities.

It’s been close to a year since the horrific act of terrorism in Bondi, and the alleged terror attack in Forrest Place.

Both of these events left many people in our community understandably shaken, and unsure if it’s safe to practise a simple expression of their faith.

It’s unacceptable - and any act of hatred or violence will not be tolerated in WA.

It’s true across different cultures - and it’s just as true for people from all walks of life.

Whether it’s a woman who’s pregnant or breastfeeding, someone living with disability, a victim-survivor of family and domestic violence or a member of the LGBTIQA+ community, everyone has the right to be treated with respect and have a fair go in life.

The Equal Opportunity Act is more than 40 years old, and modernising it will bring us into line with other States - and make WA a fairer place for everyone.

It will expand protections against discrimination, harassment and vilification - and provide people who have been discriminated against an avenue to make complains and seek recourse.

This isn’t about stopping people from having different views - it’s about creating a safe and inclusive environment where everyone feels respected and included.

Because every Western Australian deserves to live their life free from discrimination.

📢STOP THE MEGA UNI MERGER! RALLY WED 21 AT PARLI!

In Parliament this week, @TheGreensWA have been fighting hard against the @rogercookmla’s Labor government’s plan to merge three of our amazing WA public universities into one huge mega-university.

Now when Minister Buti briefed the Greens this week, he claimed that the government hasn’t yet made up its mind on the merger

But all evidence points to the contrary - the comments from the minister have made it pretty clear that this is what this @walabor government wants!

But Labor’s mega uni merger would create the largest uni in Australia (with 120,000 students total!)

This nearly 40% more students than the 85,000 currently enrolled in Monash uni - Australia’s current biggest university.

That’s how huge WA Labor’s mega uni merger would be!

@thegreenswa will be joining the @curtinguild @murdochguild @uwastudentguild as well as the @nuswestaus @nteu_wa and WA Socialists outside of WA Parliament next Wednesday at 1pm for the Say No to the Merger Rally!!!

If you’re a student, a staff member or an alumni, we need you there to show @WALabor that we don’t want this huge new mega uni in WA!!!

Thinking of our members who rescued an unconscious casualty from a house fire in Wembley Downs last night.

Often our members are unaware of the outcomes of their rescues, and we hope that their desperate efforts last night have resulted in a positive outcome.

Our thoughts remain with the casualty, their family and friends today.

Reminder that support is available through Psychological Support Services, peer supporters and our Union Office.

Atwell College is serving up some of the best coffee in WA! 🏫✨☕️

The Drip Café is an incredible program that is so much more than just a coffee stop.

As part of the school’s Transition and Independent Living Program, it gives students hands-on hospitality training, customer service experience, and real-world independence right here on campus.

Seeing the confidence, pride, and teamwork in the café was fantastic. A huge credit to the hardworking students and dedicated staff who make this inspiring space such a success! 👏🙌

Putuparri and the Rainmakers. I am so very humbled that I was given the opportunity to live ‘on country’ in our Western Australian Kimberly. I am so very grateful that I am still ‘aunty, cuz, sister, Mum’, to the people who come down from up North. I have been so very privileged to have been privy to ancient knowledge.

Now that we have your attention… 👀

It's great to see our members taking the time to complete their 'Weekly Checks', as part of our Fit for Duty initiative.

A big shoutout to the crews getting involved, getting the workouts done and bringing a bit of healthy competition into the workplace.

And before anyone asks — yes, he’s doing the calendar 📅🔥
