THIS YEAR’S LOOKS (2024)

Hi there, it’s been a really long while since my last journal post. As 2024 winds down and 2025 begins, I think it’s the perfect time to reflect and take stock of my journey.

It started in 2020 when I left a job that anchored my professional life. I was burnt out and creatively at an impasse, and frankly, I needed to find out who I am now, what I liked and didn’t like and get to know myself all over again. This led to an almost 2 year journey of dismantling a fortress of expectations I had built around myself. There was a lot of soul searching, therapy and healing, conversations with people I loved and wanted to learn from, exploring anything that interested me and a pursuit of fun that led to many rabbit holes…and I loved it. You can scroll through my last few years of posts and archived stories to see what I did. If you’ve been in my orbit, THANK YOU. You have been a part of all of this. I’ve had a blast in my pursuit of an amazing meal, exploring my heritage through cooking, documenting my family’s stories, meeting amazing people and learning about them and before I knew it, I was surrounded by a community – my tribe now.

Fast forward to this year. It was pivotal. Why? Well, I went back to work. This was a slow progression. At the end of 2022, I was ready to take on projects. I discovered that I really loved what I did for work and I was really good at it. Luckily a few people thought so too so from that I was able to start my own consulting business. One project led to another and it was a gradual transition that allowed me to find my pace and do things in a way that honored where I am now. One of those projects led to a job that I got to help shape that has kept me busy all year.

Now I write this with intention. As the next year starts, I need to find better balance. It takes a lot of work to not fall into old habits and posting this makes it a more tangible commitment. I also need my tribe to keep me honest so feel free to remind me when I am overdoing it. I hope 2025 is a year where you see more than 2 posts from me because I am pausing a bit more and reflecting on what feels good and what doesn’t. Wish me luck.

HNY! 🎆
