Kansas City Magazine’s “Top 30 Restaurants in Kansas City” list just dropped… and this is Part 1 (the first 15).

♻️ Share and repost for a friend who always says “I don’t care, you pick.”

🕵️ They say they visited hundreds of spots, paid their own way, and didn’t announce themselves, so these picks are based on real experiences, not hype.

🔥 Here’s why this list is already stirring debate: it jumps from ultra-exclusive omakase (Sushi Kodawari) to hidden strip-mall gems (like Shagan’s and Sichuan Dynasty). Kansas City’s food scene is wild like that.

💬 Kansas City, be honest: which of these first 15 is the most deserving… and which one are you side-eyeing? 👇

Have you been to @waldothai yet? I checked this place out for my birthday dinner because I wanted something with a cozy and laid back atmosphere, and the food went crazy. 🤪🤤 They offer traditional Thai food and unique cocktails.

📍 8431 wornall rd

What I tried:
🧋 Milk tea - simple yet delicious
🌿 Basil lemonade matcha mocktail - SO good, I asked the server to make me a mocktail of his choosing and he did not disappoint!!
🥒 Cucumber salad - I love a good cucumber salad, this one was a little bit on the tangier side because of the lemongrass vinaigrette but still yummy
🍗 Skewer trio - chicken, beef and pork skewers w/ peanut and pepper sauces
🍋‍🟩 Pad Thai - this was one of the best Pad Thai dishes I’ve ever had, and the portion sizes were HUGE
🦀 Crab fried rice - again, HUGE and so so good

If you’re looking for delicious comfort food and great service, check out Waldo Thai! I definitely will be going back for more Pad Thai. 😅

In a weird culinary coincidence, I had happy hour at @bucktuibbq and dinner at @waldothai on the same day. Friends’ choice. Check them both out! The omelet at @waldothai was a delicious and unique surprise and the sausage dumplings at @bucktuibbq are always a winner!
