A love affair. Can I call it that with Walfinch?❤️

Last night I won Outstanding Contribution to Home Care at the Leaders in Care Awards. Thank you to the judges and everyone behind the night.

Leaders often pick the trophies up. But who’s really behind it? Who’s moment is it?

It’s Kam’s, my sister and the quiet engine behind Walfinch.

It’s my wife’s, who backed my scary idea when life was comfortable.

It’s my team’s & franchisees, the right people in the right seats, doing the real work every day.

And it’s for the 1.5 million care workers who’ll soon be out on icy roads on cold mornings while the rest of us hit snooze. Keeping our loved ones safe. Happy. Thriving.

You’re the outstanding contribution. Thank you 🙏

Some conversations stay with you. ❤️

On World Alzheimer’s Day, 21 September, I had the privilege of having dinner with Scott Mitchell, husband of the late Dame Barbara Windsor.

I listened to Scott share his incredibly personal journey of loving and caring for Barbara while she was living with Alzheimer’s.

We spoke about the challenges, the difficult moments, the love, the resilience and the reality of watching someone you love live with this devastating disease.

To have that conversation on World Alzheimer’s Day made the evening even more meaningful.

There are some stories that need to be heard.

And this conversation isn’t ending here…

Something special is coming. Watch this space.

Walfinch believe good care means never standing still.

We are always looking for ways to learn, improve and do things better.

We do not take compliance lightly.

Behind every care plan is a person. Someone with a lifetime of experiences, memories and relationships. Someone who has placed their trust in us. That's why standards matter.

For us, maintaining high standards isn’t about ticking boxes. It’s about making sure the care we provide is safe, compassionate, consistent and something we can genuinely be proud of.

We recently welcomed Amanda Keeler, Walfinch’s National Quality and Compliance Manager, to our office. Her visit was a valuable opportunity to reflect on what we do well, where we can improve and how we can continue to raise our standards.

We are proud of our team, proud of the care we deliver and committed to maintaining the high standards our clients and their families expect from us.

We recently sat down with Peter (98 years old), to hear about his incredible life, his memories of growing up in West Wickham, and what having care and support at home means to him.

Peter has seen almost a century of change, from horse-drawn carts and wartime Britain to smartphones and online shopping!
But when we asked what matters most in life, his answer was simple:

“Love and friendship.”

And that's exactly what companionship care can bring. Talking about his carer Sally, Peter said:

"The help that she gives me is essential for me, and my carer is wonderful!"

We feel very lucky to have Peter share his story with us.

We'll be sharing more of Peter's story in the coming weeks.

Feedback like this means so much to us. Not only does it mean the world to our team, but it also provides reassurance to other families who are searching for the right support for someone they love.

Incredibly grateful to R.G. for taking the time to share their experience of Walfinch Home Care Bromley and Sevenoaks.

We're here to help families find the right support at the right time.

This week I gave the keynote and chaired the at Westminster Laing Buisson Care Summit.

Surreal.

Beveridge slayed five giants. A sixth has arrived and it lives in people’s homes.

Homecare is holding the line.

Time that changed.
