Third-year Fine Art students have been exploring charcoal stop-motion animation, an intense, hands-on process inspired by the likes of William Kentridge.

Each frame is drawn, erased, and redrawn again.
It’s slow, meticulous work that demands patience, focus, and a deep trust in the process.

Watching these pieces come together is a reminder that powerful work often happens in the in-between stages, the smudges, the changes, the uncertainty.

These animations are still very much in progress, and we’re excited to share the final pieces with you soon.

Day 1 : Scratchboard Masterclass with Solly Gutman

Today, our Fine Arts 2 students had the privilege of learning from the incredible Solly Gutman! @solly_gutman_scratchboardart
A master of the scratchboard medium.

Scratchboard, a striking technique that involves etching into a blackened surface to reveal white underneath, demands precision, patience, and a deep understanding of light and form.

We’re honored to have Solly share his expertise with us.

This is just day one, tomorrow, we reveal the final results. Stay tuned to see the magic unfold!
