Hands up if you have had a coach or parent tell you to drink water before a hot game or practice 🙌🏻🙌🏻⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ They are right!😊 But you should drink water before EVERY training session. Ideally 2 to 3 hours before your practice you should be sipping on at least 16 ounces of water. This will help you get a jump start on hydration before you start sweating ☀🤾🏻‍♀️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now why do you need a salty snack? 🥨 Salt is an electrolyte that will help your body hold on to water. You also lose salt when you sweat. Having a salty snack or sprinkling salt in your water will help you stay hydrated, prevent cramping, and replace what you will lose while you sweat!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Hydration is more than just drinking water! 💧 I help high school athletes understand their hydration needs and create a plan to help them stay hydrated and energized through all of their training sessions. If you want to learn more about hydration and start creating a plan schedule a free call using the link in my bio 📲⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #water #preworkout #hydration #preworkoutsnacks #snacks #fuelup #energy #hsbaseball #baseballnutrition #softballnutrition #varsitybaseball #softball #varsitysoccer #soccergirl #highschoolsoccer #dietitiansofinstagram #nutritiontips #dietitianlife #rdsofinstagram #virtualdietitian #sportsnutrition #sportsrd #sportsdietitian #smnutritionrd #fuelthetribe #fuelyourgoals #sportsrd #dietitianapproved #highschoolathletes #highschoolsports

Drop a 💯 below if you sip water all day!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Water should be a key part of your performance nutrition plan 💦 I had an athlete tell me last week... "I didn't realize how little I drank until we created a hydration plan!" She went from drinking maybe a small bottle or two a day to having to refill her HUGE 32 oz bottle every few hours 👏🏻👏🏻💪🏻⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ What impact did it have on her training? This athlete was able to maintain her endurance during her long runs because she wasn't dehydrated. This rock star was also recovering faster after workouts!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Water helps your body carry nutrients from your gut to your muscles. Those nutrients help your body repair and rebuild your body so you can improve your performance! Water is also a key player in recovery because it helps to lubricate and protect your joints.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do you have a hydration plan? If you don't, there is no better time than RIGHT NOW to create one. As a sports dietitian I help my clients create nutrition plans that support every aspect of their performance including hydration. We can create a plan that incorporates water, electrolytes and water based foods to help you take your training to the next level. Schedule a free call using the link in my bio to learn more!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #water #hydrationiskey #electrolytes #ncaa #collegerecruiting #athlete #athletics #athletenutrition #sportsperformance #athleticperformance #athletictraining #studentathlete #highschoolathlete #teenathlete #highschoolsports #sportsteens #eatlikeanathlete #hsathlete #nutritionforteens #youthsports #athletemindset #raisingathletes #kidsinsports #sportskids #baseballdad #parentsofathletes #momsofathletes #parentsofhighschoolathletes #sportsmom #dadsofathletes

Give me a 💪🏻 if you have a snack plan for before and after practice⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Meals are your main source of fuel for workouts. Snacks help you top off your energy stores before practice and kick start your recovery after practice 🍌⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Before practice include 30-60 grams of a simple carb (easily digested) that is low in fiber. Fiber slows down your digestion so if your snack it too high in fiber it can cause cramps because it is still hanging out in your stomach when you start practice.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After practice give your muscles what they need to start refueling and rebuilding. Ideally your snack is a 3:1 ratio of carbohydrates to protein.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #volleyballplayer #track #runner #basketball #baseball #athlete #athletics #athletenutrition #sportsperformance #athleticperformance #athletictraining #studentathlete #highschoolathlete #teenathlete #highschoolsports #sportsteens #eatlikeanathlete #hsathlete #nutritionforteens #youthsports #athletemindset #everydayathlete #competeeveryday #trainhard #snacks #postworkout #postgym #refuel #recoverlikeanathlete #fuelyourrecovery

💪🏻ATHLETE = Energy burning, muscle building, performance machine!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ One of the athletes I am working with told me he was really sluggish during his workout 🤔 He thought it was because his muscles were just tired from the day before. After looking into what he was eating we figured out it was what he ate (really the lack of what he ate!) before training that prevented him from being his best!🏋🏼‍♂️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Just like you train for your sport, evaluate your performance and make changes.... you need to do the same thing with your nutrition plan if you don't have energy!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ REMEMBER! You need more energy than your non athlete friends🔥 A sandwich for lunch just isn't enough for you. My goal as a sports dietitian is to help you create a fueling routine that will help you energize your workouts and support your recovery so that you can outwork your competition and take your game to the next level.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you want to learn more, schedule a free call with me using the link in my bio 📲⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #athlete #athletics #athletenutrition #sportsperformance #athleticperformance #athletictraining #studentathlete #highschoolathlete #teenathlete #highschoolsports #sportsteens #eatlikeanathlete #hsathlete #nutritionforteens #youthsports #athletemindset #everydayathlete #competeeveryday #trainhard #preworkoutsnacks #snacks #fuelup #energy #busyathlete #onthegofoods #schoolschedule #afterschoolsports #athletesschedule #athletelife
