This week’s collection of beautiful, resonant moments:

Today, we begin with Curator’s Notes - a series exploring moments in art, craft, and design that stayed with us, stirred something deeper and reflect how ONAARA sees.

Whilst ONAARA’s handbags are a dialogue between visual art and leather craft, the references that shape our world come from many places: architecture, photography, sculpture, music, film. Each inspiring us forward and speaking to ONAARA’s way of seeing.

We are drawn to a rarer kind of luxury: pieces that do more than simply look beautiful, but resonate — lingering in thought, memory, and feeling.

The shoot titled "IyàTokyò", "is a cultural fusion of the Japanese Traditional Kimono and the Nigerian Yoruba Gele (head tie); inspired by the similar visual echoes in both traditions with silhouettes that celebrate individuals.

The stern love, dignity, and beauty of elder women.

By merging the kimono; a symbol of grace, tradition, and ceremonial reverence in East Asian cultures, with the gele; a sculptural Yoruba head-wrap that signifies identity, pride, and status, the shoot becomes a visual dialogue between two powerful cultures.

This shoot is cold. Titled IyàTokyò, Creative Director “wallstreeeeeeeeet” blends two worlds flawlessly, the elegance of the Japanese kimono and the bold sculptural energy of the Nigerian Yoruba gele.
He describes the project as a study of visual echoes: silhouettes that honor individuality, the stern love and timeless beauty of elder women, and the shared dignity found in both cultures.
By merging the kimono, a symbol of grace and ceremonial reverence, with the gele and Nigerian Yoruba statement of identity, pride, and status, the shoot becomes a conversation between two powerful traditions.
The balance is so clean that on first glance, you can’t even tell which side it leans. A perfect cultural fusion…
What are your thoughts on this ⁉️🤔…
