Dear Friends! I have two works, my circle painting Swoop and small piece Sojourn, in this wonderful, sprawling, collage-style installation, running throughout a house/barn/horse arena in Maine. I appreciate getting to see the caps interact with the architecture and play against the wood ground. The ART SHOW 2026 features work by 195+ (!!) Maine-affiliated artists and artists from beyond! It has been exciting to see snippets of the show, and here are just a few glimpses… but it’s something you’ve gotta experience in person. I hope to be there for the closing on August 29th! : )

Alice Jones’ 𝘐𝘯 𝘍𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘍𝘪𝘦𝘭𝘥𝘴 is up and on through September 26th. Thank you to everyone who made Saturday such a great night. The gallery is still open Tuesday through Saturday, 3:00 to 10:00ish or by appointment or if the lights are on. OK.

Here are some words from Alice about the show:

My grandfather believed those who died would check on their loved ones by sending down birds. In approaching this body of work– in a moment in which I was grappling with the loss of two friends– this idea of birds acting as mediums, as messengers, or at least presences with gravity and understanding, resurfaced and resonated with me. I’ve drawn on real and imagined encounters with them and their surroundings as a form of seeking, processing, remembering, memorializing.

Landscape–cultivated and uncultivated– finds its way into the body of work as a meeting place, a place of transition, a place where death and life constantly struggle against each other, or perhaps feed each other in a natural, reciprocal exchange.

went to maine last week where, as is required by law, i made zucchini-corn fritters for my friends while in a wet bathing suit. we ate so much sour cream which is not government-mandated but highly encouraged. also saw a lot of art. if one more coworker tells me “glad to have you back” i am going to fake my own death
