Congrats to all the nominees and award winners of @fginyc 28th Annual Rising Star Awards! I am proud to sit on the board of an organization that is making true impact on nurturing the future of the fashion and design industry by fostering new talent and encouraging young professionals to pursue a career in the creative arts.

We recognized 44 nominees across 9 categories and introduced the inaugural Macy’s Future Fashion Award to a select college recipient.

What a wonderful way to spend a Monday afternoon! Thank you to all my guests who joined me at the luncheon and to the FGI team for pulling off another successful event.

I was raised believing in a god who had a “divine purpose” for my life. I believed it so hard that after 10 years of disassociation from that responsibility, I still have the drive to find a purpose.

What am I doing on this earth? Am I worthy of the space I’m taking up? The air I’m breathing? The energy I’m consuming? The space my footprint will leave?

Last night my partner and I were able to host a group of folks in our home. While introducing new friends to long-time friends - I realized that while I might not have ONE singular “divine purpose…” being a friend to these folks, and bringing community together is enough of a purpose for me.

There are so many of you who were so dearly missed, and I can’t wait to see you, hug you, and introduce you to some of the folks you see here!
